A historical Scottish folk tune/song about invading my area of England.
A famous poem by Walter Scott about my area. I have visit Netherby hall and had afternoon tea. It unfortunately isn't owned by the Graham family anymore. However the still own the wood near my house and the Church/Chapel which the local lord James Graham let me and my mother in and showed us around a few years ago.
You know what, I absolutely love this rivalry (that carries on, how can it not?) from the history of Britain.
The waning and waxing of the respective regal and lords and barons of both sides....and the bedrock identities..
Whenever england waned from relative wax (edward 2 after longshanks, the later plantagenets)...scots inevitably always made it known on ground heh.
Then we eventually get to the tudors and their impact on eventual union of the crowns and its downstream today.
Absolutely love the Scottish Anthem....I think its my favourite of all time
...and stood against him.....proud edwards aaaarmmmyyyy...and sent him homewards....ta think againnnnn 
Its almost 6N time too to hear the large crowds belting it lol.

Back in high school we spent a fair amount of time one year (in geography class) studying the Lake District as part of understanding Glacial features.
It is definitely on my bucket list when I am in UK visiting again (to do a northern tour)....I have only been to London and southern England so far.
I consider myself lucky to have had me formative education alongside lot of english and scottish mates (these were british and international schools in Hong Kong and then Singapore where I grew up). I don't know anyone from Cumbria though.
Love that bunch to bits heh. I stay in good touch with many of them.
Britain and its culture + history have had massive impact on me in all kinds of ways thinking back.
Would be good if you develop this thread into more about Cumbria and the environs as you see fit to.
