Which Turkish Navy warships do have SONAR that capable of searching 50km?

50km range torpedo seems to me superior.

I've learned a lot of things from forums except Sonars. Even about foreign sonars there is lack of information on internet.

SOM Cruise missile has been made the unique unit of ''Turks'' civilization in the strategy video game ''Humankind'' made by some of the ex-developers of Sid Meier's Civilization series.

The game has been the fourth most selling game in USA in August 2021 and was nominated as the best strategy/sim game of 2021 in Game Awards (winner was AOE4).

I already found it weird they made Turks one of the 11 contemporary era cultures while leaving out England, South Korea etc.

But them knowing about SOM cruise missile or digging enough to discover SOM cruise missile has been a total shock for me.

In the game, any contemporary era civilization that researched the ''rocket science'' technology gets access to cruise missiles. However only Turks after researching ''fighter jets'' technology get the ability to upgrade their cruise missiles to SOM which enables player to make stealth attacks and not gain grievience points. It also upgrades strength from 62 to 70 and range from 14 to 30.

A stealth bonus makes perfect sense considering SOM-J was developed for F-35 Lightning II to carry in its internal bay, contributing to the stealth of the jet. With Turkey out of the programme, now the missile will be carried internally in Turkeys own national fighter jet TFX.

SOM is indeed one of the biggest advances in Turkish military industry in the recent years. It also has been described as the greatest of Greeces anxieties regarding the development of Turkish military industry.

Nuclear warhead on SOM lets goo!

They also clearly based it on SOM-J the stealth variant is which made of composite instead of aluminium but it costs aluminium in the game.

About time they gave civilisations their unique units.

Age of empires and total war series are the worst offenders. Copy pasted units!!

Wikipedia says SOM missile has a 230 kg warhead. W76 nuclear warheads inside sub-launched Trident missiles weigh 95 kilos each and has a 90 kt blast yield.

You could take the missiles we make today and, with minimal modifications, turn them into sea-skimming, highly-maneuverable and low observable nuclear deterrents with 2-3 warheads each, allowing surgical strikes inside individual boroughs.

Imagine doing this with 1 CRUISE MISSILE.

These missiles were made with AIM120 Amraam and AIM9x missiles in mind. They were to be replacement of these two. They are not quite like the replica of these. They are a bit different. We will never know the exact details. And, really, no one should! (apart from the people that should). That is the beauty of indigenous weapons.
But when asked about the range issue, the engineers and technical people were very vague about it. Nevertheless they did say that “they are at least as good as the US equivalents” .

100km+ range enough, the range of the missiles should not be important. Hitting a fighter from that range is really difficult, ther is fetish going on the internet. More range is better of course, in this case a air to air missile hitting a at max range needs high altitud and max speed. So before you fire a missile from max range other side would notice in no time that you fire from that distance.

The key point will how good is your radar with lock on, data-link of the missile, communication, seeker of the missile. Believe me when we talk about a war scenario above agean sea Turkey and Greece will not able to hit from stand off distance air to air engagement. Tactics will be the key point. And in that case we are the upperhand.

What i now our missile are the same level as Amraam C7 versions.
