Curious how fast will this evolve to contract, final design, and production. Learning from AH 140 experience seems we do take time to agree on final design. Furthermore Brazilian Riachuelo Scorpene based submarine also took quite sometime since deliver final product from initial contract. Hopefully ours will not be too long as we need those subs asap.

Btw, has anyone have any update around the KRI Nanggala submarine replacement progress...? IIRC the budget has been approved to get a second hand sub. Wondering how that will be impacted now that we moving towards acquiring Scorpene class subs.

According to Janes the submarine contract expected to be awarded before mid 2022.

"Janes understands that the two sides aim to finalise a purchase contract before mid-2022. This contract – unlike the newly signed MoU – is expected to facilitate the integration of weapons and systems onboard the submarines and the provision training for operation, construction, and sustainment."

"Pada kunjungan kehormatan ini, selain dalam rangka perkenalan sebagai ketua ODC yang baru juga berdiskusi tentang keberlanjutannya kerja sama Foreign Military Finance (FMF) dan Foreign Military Sales (FMS)."

From our side, which one solution that our MoD prefer for future DDG? the Korean or US? or is it to early for me to asking this?

Still too early at this points, there is pro and con. Either way, European shark is surely would not left them alone in any opportunity

What is TNI AL plan to do with US FMS? honestly, getting Arleigh Burke seems highly unlikely, the cost is way too high, and aren't we trying to avoid too much US stuff? Same case with Zumwalt, Ticonderoga wet dream

Also, the hull of the ship themselves aren't much of an issue, they are just platforms anyway, not something sensitive, and can be interchangeable most of the time (you can switch Arleigh class with Sejong class for the same effect). But the weapon and electronic systems onboard are the real deal, and we currently seek to standardize the European system (to avoid dealing with the US). I thought Type-31/ Iver hull would be our Destroyer platform, but apparently, they will be classified as Frigate too? So what is the most likely be the candidate for our Destroyer program?
