No Gökbey can't do what AW-101 Can they are not even in the same class.
We are already manafacturing t70's which capable of 10t+ take off weight and plan making t925 in future. Why should we get aw101 merlin.
That is very expensive to procure and will take time to acquire.

We still do not have the tech and expertise to navalise a helicopter. T70 helicopters are being produced under license. Their numbers and specifications are set. We can not change them.
By the time we produce operational, navalised indigenous Seahawk alternatives, in quantity, we could be looking in to latter part of this decade. Our heavy class Atak-2 will make it’s first flight in March 2023. Then there will be tests before production start. They need to navalise this helicopter first. We won’t see a serial production unit before 2025-26. Operational numbers will be even later.
We have 4 I class and a large LHD that need Seahawks. (Plus 10 planned OPVs)
Sometimes it may prove to be cheaper and quicker to purchase these than manufacture a few of them in house.

Its been 15 years whhere is the T70?????? also t70s we will get are not even navalized merlin is navalzied.

A slightly modified Atak Faz-II chopper. This is the new FAZ-II configuration. Note that the picture might not be %100 correct as some of the antennas seems to belong to the RF Jammer system(the black antennas on the wingtip near the LWR and UVFIS sensor) or might be used by both RWR and RF Jammer systems. Sensors of the MWS system are %100 national. All HEWS system right now has insane national input and nearly nothing of value is bought from abroad to produce a complete HEWS system.

UVFİS=Ultra Violet Missile Warning System. Rather than 4 sensors, from now on 6 sensors will be used. and the 6th sensor looks upward to see missiles that are coming with a big angle of attack.

It has a national IFF system and an exclusive EW Pod designed for Atak chopper.

The upgrade Mr. Kotil mentioned will be on a platform basis. The purpose of the upgrade will be to integrate the domeatic 3000 hp engine.

In this type of strategic platforms, Turkey attaches great importance to the rate of indigenousness because platforms such as TfX, MIUS and Atak-2 will be Turkey's prestige projects and will form the backbone of Turkish strike concept. Turkey does not accept a road accident on these platforms so all these platforms will have domestic engines.

3000HP engine for Atak -2 was never dead.
Once you start building 2000hp level turbo shaft engines, it is quite feasible to develop from it a more powerful engine.
If you read the article below of Mr I Sunnetci, he makes a valid point about the T700-TEI701D engine Redevelopment.
The 700 series engine Is a 1500hp to 3000hp class engine. It has versions that develops around 2700hp power.
in fact as Turkey has the right to make changes to the engine by notifying GE, these changes can be made, and a 3000HP version of this engine is then a possibility. But the license agreement will have to be altered accordingly.
But as we can manufacture most of this engine ourselves anyway, it wouldn’t be too difficult to redesign and produce a totally indigenous 3000hp class engine in house. It is a matter of money, time and allocation of manpower. To shorten the timeline we chose to go with Ukrainian engines for the prototypes and may be first few units until our engine is ready.

My engineer friend at TEI confirmed it personally. Currently, Turkey does not have a 3000 hp class turboshaft engine project designed by itself. SSB did not support the project after the first presentation. He killed the project due to the lack of sufficient financial means + personnel shortage in TEI.

If it is true as your source says that the development of 3000HP indigenous engine is dead in the water for the time being, and Mr Kotil is talking about a 3000HP engine replacing the Ukrainian ones in later stages, there are a few options like, local production under license like the T700-TEI-701D; or a JV with the likes of RR.
I personally hope , at some stage the total local production takes place since each helicopter uses 2 engines, the total number of engines quickly mount up in quantity as the number of helicopter orders start coming in and that in turn, becomes a big burden to our foreign currency reserves.

armed gökbey with suicide drones would be adding new capabilities, these drones could scout the lz together with some male uav and then strike if they see something suspicious.

There is quite a market for light attack helicopters of this size. Possibly Gokbey will be the first navalized platform by TAI, as to carry out certain tasks on Naval platforms (primarily the replacement of SAR helicopters in CG inventory).

Also might provide certain services on AKDG (OPVs) for duties which might be an overkill for Seahawks. Earlier there was a rumour - information of testing the dipping sonar via Gokbey, this might be related to a requirement made by Navy.
