Things are moving very slowly. I know that the particle acceleration technology laboratory (Tarla) facility in Türkiye was newly established and could not be completed. From what I've read, I know that we haven't even entered the Thorium reactor business yet.

That 12 cents per kWh is absurd. Solar already cost less than 5 cents per kWh and is forecasted to cost 2 cents per kWh by 2030 but we will be leeched by the Russians for fifteen years and pay a premium 12cents/kWh. That is SIX times more than what the alternative will cost by the end of this decade. They have a contract for scr*wing us for fifteen years and we go ask for more. And in case you don't know under which legal frame and ownership structure this power plant is being built, google the term "YAP İŞLET, SAHİP OL". It's a scheme our "shrewd" politicians came up with. I'm sure Russian's are very proud of it but I am definitely not.

I don't how can people be so oblivious to the political climate they're living in. Europe, at the expense of their economical collapse, went overboard and sanctioned Russia to oblivion and didn't bow down to Russia's demands even though it will bite Europe in the ass. And in this circumstances, you, Turkey, whose majority of exports depends on EU, goes and poses with and makes deals with the "devil". How can you be so confident that these actions won't have consequences? Will they be more lenient with you than they're with themselves? Are these deals worth the risk? Do you know about this map?

It's called "European Customs Union". Can you image what will happen to Turkey's economy if it's removed from it?

You couldn't have been more wrong. We have a trade surplus with the EU. According to TUIK data,

In 2021,

We have exported 93 billions dollars worth of goods and services to the EU. On the other hand,
We have imported 85.3 billions dollars worth of goods and services from them.

That is a trade surplus of 7.7 billions of dollars.

To Russia ,In the same year, we have exported a meagre 5.7 billions dollars of goods whereas,
we have imported a colossal 29 billions dollars of goods.

That is a trade deficit of 23.3 billions of dollars.

To China, In the same year, we have exported a laughable(considering the size of the market), 3.6 billions dollars of goods whereas, we have imported 32.2 billions dollars of goods.

That is a trade deficit of 28.6 billions of dollars.

I hope, now, you know better where we stand in terms of trade balance with the respective countries.

That doesn't help the point what @bisbis was trying to make. Besides, the metal, raw material import from china makes only around 8% percent of the total import from the country.

If you wanna assume his role, tell me, which country(ies) supposed to replace the EU? Name some of them, and I do a bit of research and know better thusly. I'm open to learn more about it.

all those other Eu contries had deficit against China, only those sell specifik product might have some advantage like Autralian coals or Brazilian meat, coffee..

The exports of countries like Australia, Brazil and Iran to China tend to be mining ores (REE or others) or natural resources. Similarly Turkey's vast majority of imports from Russia are natural resources. It is much better to make these comparisons after taking out those types of trades. If you don't have those resources, this part is not in your control and it doesn't make sense to worry about them.

That said, I agree that the EU is a very valuable trade partner. In general, the richer the market, the more advantageous the trade. Capturing 1% of the imports of the US or the EU is much more valuable than capturing multiple percentage points of imports of multiple African countries. There is just a lot more money to go around in rich countries.

People here can be really, really blind to Russian influence within Turkish politics. It only takes one word of "West bad" for some commenters here to go running to Russia as Turkey's best friend as if the Russian Empire wasn't the #1 contributor to the bloody disintegration of the Ottoman Empire in its later years and only failed in this goal because the German Empire destroyed them from within.

We don't have nuclear propulsion technology as of now and it is not a priority asset for Türkiye. However when and if we have a clean reactor technology we may very well make use of it. A thorium reactor is very well suited for this purpose.
