The Council of Banking Associations of Turkic States was established with the agreement signed in Istanbul
In the new period when the center of gravity of global trade shifted to Asia, action was taken for an important union of forces in the field of finance under the leadership of Turkey. Bank associations of member countries of the Organization of Turkic States signed a cooperation agreement in Istanbul for the establishment of the Council of Banking Associations of Turkic States. The bank associations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, members of the Organization of Turkish States, and the Participation Banks Association of Turkey attended the signing ceremony hosted by the Banks Association of Turkey.
SOLID FOUNDATION
Speaking at the ceremony held for the cooperation agreement, Alpaslan Çakar, Chairman of the Board of the Banks Association of Turkey (TBB), drew attention to the fact that when political relations are supported by economic relations, they will be much stronger, long-lasting and produce more welfare for societies. Çakar said: “We are aware of the fact that economic steps are also very important in strengthening political relations and making them permanent, and we bear the responsibility for this. The Council of Banking Associations of Turkish States is a non-commercial non-governmental organization that was established in accordance with the principles of free will and equal rights of its members, and that brings its members together on the basis of common interests. The activities of the Council will be carried out in accordance with the legal regulations of the member states, international conventions and statutes. We aim to benefit more from the historical and cultural accumulation of the Turkish world in developing our economic and banking sector relations. In this way, we want to make the political and social solidarity established between our states permanent by embodying it in the economic field.”
THE UNITY WILL EXPAND
Stating that they are talking about a great civilization and a great economic and financial future, Marat Baitokov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Banks Association of Kazakhstan, said, “When we talk about these happening in the east, I want to underline this. Kazakhstan banks will gladly take part in innovations in the new future. In Kazakhstan, we carry out our work at a high level. We reach new goals in accordance with our principles. 21 banks are our members and local banks are 70 percent of them. 10 percent are banks with foreign participation," he said. Chairman of the Azerbaijan Banks Association Zakir Nuriyev said that there is a great need for establishing such relations and creating such platforms in the changing world. Nuriyev said, "This union will not only stay in this geography, but will expand even more in the future."
FIELDS OF ACTIVITY
Council of Banking Associations of Turkic States; establishing common platforms on developments; summits, forums, conferences, seminars. By sharing banking data, regulations and good practices, the Council; It will lead collaborations on the development of digital banking, the fight against crime revenues, adaptation, combating climate and environmental risks, and dissemination of payment ecosystems. In the Cooperation Agreement of the Council of Banking Associations of the Turkish States, the bank unions of Hungary, Georgia and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are also included as observers.
COOPERATION IN HEALTH
Turkey took action to share its experience in the field of health with the Organization of Turkish States. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made the following statement on the subject on November 7: “We will reiterate Turkey's level of progress and new goals in the field of health, which is one of the most important topics of development revolutions, at a meeting held in Istanbul on 31 October with the member countries of the Organization of Turkish States. We had the opportunity to evaluate. Undoubtedly, the most important symbols of the revolution we have realized in health are our strong infrastructure, raising service standards through digitalization and our city hospitals. Now, we are transforming our health system into a global brand under the title of Health Turkey, with our manpower whose working conditions have improved and our extensive infrastructure extending to every corner of our country. We consider sharing this enviable accumulation with all our friends, especially the Organization of Turkish States, as a requirement of our humane, conscientious and fair stance that distinguishes us from others. In addition, with the umbrella brand of Health Turkey, we aim to maximize the share of our country in health tourism, which is approaching 100 billion dollars annually in the world.”
THE ATTENDANCE OF THE ORGANIZATION OF TURKISH STATES ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE
The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking Countries, which was established in 2009, announced to the world a new period in which cooperation will progress more, taking the name of the Organization of Turkic States at the eighth summit held in Istanbul on 12 November 2021. As an international organization, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey are among the founding members of the organization, which was established to promote comprehensive cooperation among Turkish states. At the seventh summit held in Baku in October 2019, Uzbekistan joined the organization as a full member. Hungary in the sixth summit held in Cholpon-Ata, Turkmenistan in the eighth summit held in Istanbul, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an observer member in the ninth summit held in Samarkand.
