As far as I know currently only Boeing and SAAB (and maybe Airbus) that put their offer.

Look, my post is not trying to dig at anyone. But if it was up to me (and I wrote this knowing that it'll never be up to me) then E-2D or the simpler Saab 340 Erieye would suit us better.

Once sufficient numbers are acquired, and we matured our technical understanding on the use of AEWC, than maybe we could do upgrade the platform to something bigger, even a custom made AEWC would be good. But until then there more urgent need to cover.

If the government want to continue N250 now then that’s okay. That project was stopped because the IMF that gave us bailout didn’t wanted to took such risk for something that might be not profitable. RnD is always be like that.

Btw, N250 was the first aircraft of that class that used fly-by-wire in the world if i remember correctly. I personally support if they want to continue it.

well, if we put that logic to many things then we won't even have that CN235MPA, Anoa, OPV and stuff.....

When you made something, something that’s better could be get with even faster pace, including maybe something so different but still related to the previous technology. So experience is important, CMIIW.

yeah, 1 thing from it that good is N219 is making a progress....
not a great one but still, can't expect them to jump that high in such a short time after "sleeping" for a long time...

If this is true, it seems that at least the MoD and TNI-AU realize that having just two E7 aircraft is a greater risk than having seven E2Ds in the long run.

I kid you not. Let's say we finally got our 2 brand new E-7 wedgetail which has a 50km radar advantage over an E-2D. Once conflict start, the enemy will go after those assets. Lose just ONE and the air force loses HALF its early warning capabilities, half its eyes and ears are blinded. Do you think those air force generals would want to lose their badge by losing the other half ? Iraq goes this way with the Adnan AWACS in Desert Storm. Basically the platform is seen as too expensive and precious, no one wants to risk losing one.

E-11A alike not needed? This is how US assets can talk and sharing their data with partners or any those that has no same datalink, Link16 as usual. Kind of like too much investment but just for small reason to have it tho wkwk. But I don’t know does it compatible with non-western datalink. Not AEW but yeah
