44 new ships, wth? With a clear focus on indigenisation and self-reliance, 42 out of the 44 ships and submarines under construction are being built in the Indian shipyards, the Navy said.
Ikr, these numbers are just not enough...IN has been self-reliant since the past two decades for the most part but we need to up our game, particularly on the submarine front if we want to prevent and actively counter PLAN encroachments in IOR44 new ships, wth?

I see a Russian style of shipbuilding,am i wrong?Broadest current number of various (pre-service) stages of IN vessels launched/under-construction/fitting-out/sea-trial etc:
SSBN (Arihant) - 3
SSK (Kalvari) - 2
Destroyer (Vizag) - 2
Frigate (Nilgiri) - 7
Frigate (Talwar) - 4
Corvette (ASW-SWC) - 9
Survey Vessels (GRSE) - 4
Multi purpose vessel (L&T MPV) - 2
Diving support vessel (Nistar) - 2
Diving support craft (DSC - TWL) - 5
Tugboat (HSL) - 4
As you can see, almost half are not warships in this number.

I know India built some Leander class frigates and follow on classes based on the Leander class. Are the current frigates influenced from that line?Yes broadly the biggest influences regarding shipyard investments etc were (post independence):
50s- 60s British (inertia from British Raj era)
60s - 90s Soviet and Russian (especially close cooperation promoted by folks like Admiral Sergey Gorshkov, especially after Indo-USSR strategic cooperation agreement of the late 60s.).
Only in last couple decades has there been switch to more western shipbuilding influences (as cold war ended, relations improved with western world and more options opened there along with cooperation with Israel too).
But the weight of Soviet involvement and influence in Indian military shipbuilding has its inertia in various ways given the duration it occupied.

Is there any news about the fleet support ships that India is planning to buy from Turkiye?

Good evening. guys! Do you have any understanding if INS Mysore D60 is already undergoing a refit like it was done to D61&62? The latest photo of D60 that I saw, was of early 2022 with "old" weapons.
Thank you in advance
