Wooow
They are literally threatening Turkey
Turkey should never allow Sweden to join NATO

So they will keep burning the most religious book in Turkey on the most religious day, Friday, until Turkey allows Sweden to join NATO? Wow! It feels as If Turkey is the one asking for help and not Sweden

Guys we need to keep our cool.
You surely must realize that those are provocateurs who cheap agitate Turkish people by hitting their soft spot.
Their access to NATO will only be achieved when they only satisfy Turkey’s rightful security concerns.
They know they’re desperate and no other NATO member can help them.
That’s what’s driving them so crazy.

I don't think most of us here care if this clown burns a religious book. He can do it everyday if he wants to. But I think Erdogan should use this opportunity wisely.

I don't care about this to such an extent, if they were to strap a don't care-o-meter to me it would explode.

Western support for YPG, however, is inexcusable. They support terrorist groups and threaten our territorial integrity. We must respond as hashly as we can, within reason.

Getting outraged about irrelevant things in foreign policy (i.e. one individual burning a religious book), that's the perfect pre-election storm. Perfectly orchestrated thanks to Russia and the government by utilizing the situation.
I think he should be condemned individually for his action, given he is a political figure and doing such unspeakable thing to achieve a political goal involving Turkey as he stated already.

However, in an ideal situation this idiot should not be given such publicity and should be completely irrelevant to foreign policy decision making.

But now it seems, Mr. Erdogan is trying to cook something really big with this idiot for his next election, by pretending to act though against Sweden for something that, Swedish state is not involved in.
While, the real foreign policy discussion should be about YPG/PKK related security concerns.

This is very disheartening. It shows how little educated we are and how vulnerable we are to the common populism. The racist idiot Paludan is taking up the whole public attention and treated like a golden goose while the real problems are swept under the carpet. We were in the right to keep Sweden out of NATO but by giving so much voice to the "Quran burning" we're losing our ground. Even in the small city I live, the municipality invited all citizens to the town square to "condemn the despicable(alçakça) act of Sweden's burning of our holy-book" today. They're gonna milk this cow for God knows how long.

It wont change anything tbh
Lets not forget that the main problem between Swedish NATO application is the PKK. Erdogan himself stated this many times; however, when the opposite party cant even respect the values that you follow, then dont expect them to give you your actual worth in order to consider abandoning the PKK

Hijacked lol

Americans sold that shit to them.

Mind you it was the Americans who gave the coordinates to the Russians which got Dudayev killed.

After the Soviets collapsed who made the Russians recover at least to an extent its the Americans.

Americans cant decide who we get to trade with since they work with terrorists and prop proxies.

Turkiye actually closed the Bosphorous to the Russians before the war the West critised the Turks for getting too close to Ukraine because they believed we were destabilising the region by selling weapons to the Ukrainians.

Nobody should believe the Americans and their hypocrisy.

I do agree with people who say Russia needs to be hit hard. We should not be too soft with them while at the same time we cant trust the Americans.
not sold, leased by private companies.. google for wet lease, dry lease in aviation industry

I wonder if you did passed by them.

You see, fundamentally i am not against public demonstration for religious or cultural reasons.
It is natural if somebody's religious or cultural feeling is hurt, they should have the right to do so.

However in reality, instead of peaceful, civilized demonstration against very a specific action or incident done by specific actor or institution, it is always turns out be into a big 'US VS THEM' and people in the street start shouting and ranting violent stuffs and burning flags.
because of their lack of proper education, they just couldn't comprehend the simple fact that, it was an individual act, Swedish state nor the Swedes as whole involved in it.

And to make matter worse, Western media intentionally or unintentionally pick it up as a story of the week and show the extreme and heated parts of the demonstration, which makes us as Muslims look like completely fanatic and uncivilized people in the perception of western public.

I was watching a small clip that day, where someone was shouting about burning the Sweden itself as a reaction!
Imagine if you are a Swedes or European how will it look like to you?

And racist bigots like Paludan knows this very well and they love to exploit it to advance their racist agenda.

On top of that, when state started to get involved in these socio cultural matter like the way Mr. Erdogan did, and mix it up with foreign policy the whole thing just couldn't go more wrong.

As you rightfully said, Meantime in the process of all this, the ACTUAL MATTER become somewhat irrelevant and looses its weight.

A recent study by metropoll showing the opinions of different coting bases on Sweden's NATO membership
This data does support my initial claims that the CHP seems to have made some sort of deal with the West in case they won which explains why Sweden was so entusiastic for the delaying of the talks post 2023
Another sign that the iYi is just a facade of a party meant to split the AKP votes to solidify the possibility of a CHP win
Truly the 2023 presidential elections will set the course of the country for the next 20 years at least and oh boy is it going to be a pure fqery with the current CHP. I truky hope they dont win since the deals that they made behind the table will 100% cripple Turkey at this rate

Why cant there be a decent politician in the country

What's the solution? Having no principals, nothing worth raising your voice for, no values you'd defend, no red lines, no self-respect, no identity?

Being pragmatic is a necessity of a modern foreign policy in order to gain power.

Being pragmatic doesn't mean being totally arbitrary to any attack on ourselves.

You are right, but protest and demonstration should be done by civil society in a peaceful and civilized manner. Usually, shouting and ranting at 'them' or burning flags doesn't get us anywhere and only makes matter worse.

However, state may issue a formal condemnation of the specific individual as he tried to socially antagonize the majority of Turkish people, but definitely should not make it into a foreign policy matter. Specially given, it is an individual act and not the act of Swedish state itself.
Obviously, if somehow Swedish state was directly involved in this as part of some project against Turkey, then it would have been justified. But, it is not the case here.

I wish somebody can punch this prick.

I might be a hypocrite at times but I do love my religion.

A Muslim who is devout, practices or does not should still feel protective of his or her religion.

Turkiye is a secular country still they doesnt stop them from seeing Turkiye as a Muslim country.

Would you say the samething when they burn the Turkish flag or Ataturk?

Allowing them to burn something which you see as sacred gives them a blank cheque to burn whatever you hold dear.

Turks are really patriotic along with holding Islam dear to their heart even with Turkiye is a secular country.

People still hold principals and values that are still seen as dear.

Mind you dont forget the Norway debacle where they used Ataturks pictures as target practice.

Yes I would say the same. Foreign policy is not something that should be dictated by the actions of some random guy burning whatever or saying whatever.

Otherwise, in a world full of people that think like you do, I'll go and burn a German flag in front of the embassy in Kiev tomorrow and boom have stopped German supplies to Ukraine.

you can’t just take an average of all parties. It has to be a weighted average. Manipulation at best.

This has no affect on geopolitics.

But still we all hold values and principals which we see as valuable regardless if its culture, religion or rules and laws.

If people burnt an lbgt flag in Sweden they would have been arrested for hare speech.

Shouldnt free speech be an open gate instead of it being pick and choose?

In the usa you can get thrown out of your job just for supporting bds or critising Israel.
