It is appaling how bad the relief is coordinated. Firstly there are thousands of people who lost their houses or are afraid to enter their homes because of damage.

We are a fuckin tourism country with thousands of hotels, why are these people not sheltered in these hotels? Hotels have rooms, beds, showers, kitchens but no, our people try to bring tents and towels.

Do the right thing, bring the people to the hotels stop wasting time with tents and sleeping bags.
I think it may be due to the hotels around the area also being damaged, thus needing to move the people away from there, but this also creates problems as the roads leading to those areas are damaged as well as the port and airport not to mention the bad weather makes it hard to use helicopters.

lastly, I think there might not have been enough rescue workers as it seems like they are concentrating on the largest cities first and yet they still do not have enough people for all those buildings.

There are 13 million people living on the street. This is the biggest calamity we've experienced since WW1.

Iskenderun port is still on fire? Look, there are very dirty things going on here, I say this as someone who is experienced in port management.

Whatever is there needs to be clarified. But an 18-19 hour fire makes this very difficult.

All 2nd Army Commando Brigades are being deployed to the earthquake zones.

It was a big mistake to move the army out of the barracks in the metropolitan areas. I discussed this a few years ago with a dinosaur with thousands of followers, and with all his arrogance, blathered about darbe fetö etc. and insulted me than blocked me without waiting for an answer. Now the same dinosaur is probably pontificating about earthquakes.
They were told to be ready last night about 2 -3AM. However, it took someone who micromanages everything, to make the decision in 12 hours.
They have been waiting equipped and gears for 12 Hours.
Same with SAT/SAS, been waiting 24+ hours.

Even for miners from Zonguldak and Manisa it took 20+ hours to arrive after they got ready. Waiting for someone to decide.

People have to be moved to Antalya area, away from the earthquake zone. We have thousands of hotels. Firstly too many people in risk areas only slow down rescue works

We can shelter millions of Syrians, Afghans and Kurds but not our own people, it is a shame

And 200+ thousands under the rumbles, only 8K rescued so far.
Do the math, we are on 6 digits already.
I don't want to be the one who does that ugly math but we all know that the death toll will be orders of magnitude more than what is reported now. And that is only for the ones who are trapped under the rubbles. We don't know what will be the result of our incompetence of logistics for the people that are living on the street. Many don't realize yet but that is a bigger problem now.

Most of hotels in Alanya / Antalya / Ankara already announced they are open.
Just it is not being organized, they announce it on social media, AFAD is not organizing and redirecting people.

I can’t see this being a solution in the short term.
1. Most people have lost their homes, have someone under the rubble. They will not leave the area where loved ones are buried.
2. Logistics of ferrying huge number of people to other cities is a big project to undertake. I don’t even know if we have the means. (Remember some of the roads are already damaged and snow is hindering transport)
3. People of the same city/town have relatives in the same city or surrounding towns and they prefer to stay with them, especially if they have loved ones or friends under the rubble. It is difficult to part them away from their homes.
For mid term and during healing process it is a plausible solution nevertheless. And should be considered.

A video from the entrance of Hatay. Governorates, municipalities, private companies, sports clubs, private schools, everyone comes to help.
This is the entry road to Iskenderun after the exit from the motorway. I know the place very well. That is good to know that help is coming. It is also good that this road and motorway is now actually closed to all traffic but official and quake rescue vehicles.

State of emergency declared on disaster Zone.

*

According to Articles 119-122 of the 1982 constitution, there are four different types of extraordinary government in Turkiye. These are martial law, state of emergency, mobilization and state of war. Article 121 states: "In the event of a decision to declare a state of emergency pursuant to Articles 119 and 120 of the Constitution, it shall be submitted to the approval of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye and upon its approval, this decision shall be published in the Official Gazette. If the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye is on vacation, it shall be immediately called for a meeting. The Assembly may change the duration of the state of emergency, extend it upon the request of the Council of Ministers, each time for a period not exceeding four months, or lift the state of emergency." A general state of emergency has been declared three times in Turkiye's history. Between 1978 and 1983 martial law was replaced by a state of emergency, which remained in force until November 2002. On July 20, 2016, following the coup attempt in Turkey, a state of emergency was declared across Turkiye for 3 months. As of 01.00 on July 21, 2016, the state of emergency was approved by 346 votes to 115 in parliament. Declared on July 20, 2016 and extended 7 times, the state of emergency was completely lifted on July 18, 2018 after two years.

IN WHICH CITIES WAS THE STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED?

The state of emergency was declared for 10 cities affected by the earthquake.

HOW LONG WILL THE STATE OF EMERGENCY LAST?

The state of emergency will last for 3 months.

The current earthquake is unprecedented and its magnitude is so severe that the last incident of such scale (and a collision of 140+ km fault line) only occured 3 times in history with this being the fourth

Anyway, here you go
Just hecause the govt isnt announcing it the moment you wish them to, doesnt mean they arent doing it. It takes time to contact and book all hotels in Antalya; moreover, you need to ask the tourists to vacate their premises for humanitarian puposes and compensate them. Such events doesnt occur in a few minutes but normally in the span of days

For those criticising the govt decisions in Hatay
A Turkish friend of mine who knows ppl with ties close to the govt states that Turkey cant even reach the city. All the major routes have been destroyed and even the airport have been destroyed; thus, the govt have no means of sending either heavy machiners or personnel using land or air routes which makes stuff more complicated

Told this last night and nationwide is under consideration too. After effects won't be easy to handle.
