Turkish Health Ministry has not met with this guy...... Fire the minister.
Hold your horses champion. There is a whole bunch of Turkish scientists working on vaccines in Turkey and that German-Turk BionTech pays tax in Germany not in Turkey. If they are seeking any cooperation they should take action, if they just want to sell products they have to follow due procedures. Favoritism is not allowed. And the news piece gives the price of the vaccine wrong; it is not $159 but ₺159.

I don't really think the Russian vaccine is that reliable. I also think some countries will rush the vaccine out to cash in before the really good vaccine comes out.

There is also the Chinese vaccine being trialed on 700 Turkish population at the moment with 80-90 % efficiency rate. There is no word whether it has the same -70°C keeping condition as the BionTech German-American vaccine.

Geliyor! I hope we offered something really good for domestic production capability (including production of other stuff and R&D). Would be awesome.

Turkey to buy Chinese COVID-19 candidate vaccine doses, in talks with Pfizer

Turkey will sign a contract within days to buy at least 20 million doses of a COVID-19 candidate vaccine from China’s Sinovac Biotech, the health minister was cited as saying, adding that Ankara was also in talks to buy doses of Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine.

“We will be able to procure at least 10 million doses of the Chinese vaccine in December. We want to increase this number. It will be just as much in January, too,” Health Minister Fahrettin Koca was quoted as saying by the state-run Anadolu news agency.

“This figure can easily double, probably. A contract will be signed on this in one or two days,” he said at his ministry’s budget presentation in parliament on Wednesday.

Turkey would become the second buyer of the Chinese vaccine after Brazil.

Preliminary trial results have shown that Sinovac's SVA.O experimental COVID-19 vaccine CoronaVac triggered a quick immune response, but the level of antibodies produced was lower than in people who have recovered from the virus.

CoronaVac and four other experimental vaccines developed in China are in late-stage trials to determine their effectiveness.

The report follows news this month from Pfizer Inc PFE.N and BioNTech 22UAy.DE and from Moderna MRNA.O, as well as from Russia, of experimental vaccines that have been more than 90% effective based on interim data from large, late-stage trials.

Pfizer and BioNTech may secure emergency U.S. and European authorization for their COVID-19 vaccine next month after final trial results showed it had a 95% success rate and no serious side effects, the drugmakers said on Wednesday.

Koca said Turkey was in talks to buy their vaccine as well, once it obtained its license.

“If so, the number that can be given to Turkey is 1 million. We have talks right now to gradually go up to 25 million within the year starting from January,” Koca was quoted as saying.

While some countries including Turkey have been conducting tests for Sinovac’s experimental vaccine, Brazil is currently the only country which has agreed to receive doses of it. The Sao Paulo state will start importing 46 million doses this week.

In a statement on Thursday, Turkish Airlines THYAO.IS said its freight carrier Turkish Cargo had delivered a shipment of vaccines from Beijing to Sao Paolo.

The latest situation in the world in the outbreak of Kovid-19 as of yesterday. Americans broke a new world record yesterday and announced 192 thousand patients a day. If it goes on like this, they will see 300-400 K daily cases until Biden arrives.

Cerrahpasa hospital talking about the exhaustion.

I think hardcore curfew rules are needed to reduce the spread.

Enforce rule of only one person a family to go shopping if they have underaged kids they can't have looked after, then they can bring them along.

We are not far behind.

As you know government admitted that they are only announcing patients that are accepted into the hospitals. Experts says it's %3 of the cases that needs to bedded in hospital so, it brings Turkey daily cases somewhere between 150.000 - 200.000 cases per day.

How do you suggest that such a rule be enforced?

Any source to back up your claims?
Just gut feeling, looks like.

@Zafer

You can look at the zatürre oranı, it's around %3,4
Let's say everyone of them is hospitalized then; With 6713 patient number, case number would be 210k this day. Though it would be inconsistent with test number....however death numbers are not inconsistent with the numbers from municipalities... Anyways, things are getting very serious in Turkey. Intensive cares reached %71 if the numbers given are true..... I think those numbers are not even real since they are converting corridors in hospitals to ICU as seen in the video above.

In Bulgaria right now we have like 4000 reported cases on average every single full working day (on the weekends many laboratories don’t even work 😁) and last week we had days with 120-130-150 dead.

Everyday we make like 11-12k tests (1/5th of that on the weekends cuz we lazy 😁). I know about dozens of people that are infected and sick but are not even tested so they are not part of the statistic. Many people use the cheaper fast tests bu their results are also not included in the statistics. Many are infected but have no symptoms- they are also not a part of any statistic. The PCR tests find just a fraction of all infected people.

So even for a country of less than 7 million people you can imagine how many are really infected with the virus every single day but somehow a country like Turkey that is 84 million big has similar numbers to us and there isn’t a chance to have 100k+ infected a day, right.

Yeah, the Turkish Government doesn’t hide anything and it’s all flowers and roses. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

You need to look at death numbers. In large cities local governments are in opposition parties' hands so they count the casualties. If there was a discrepancy we would know. Unlike other countries our government has a balanced approach to handling the pandemic effects. Don't allow the people get killed also don't kill the economic activity. Accordingly this year around 14mn tourists have been received by the tourism industry in the first 10 months of the pandemic year of 2020. By the end of the year I believe the tourist numbers will settle at a third of the year 2019 numbers. We also have the affiliation tracing of patients and therefore we can curb the outbreak on its tracks.

However we are at the peak of the second wave now and tighter measures have to be taken not to swamp the healthcare system. I am in favor of an AI based tracking of divergent citizens to stop them from breaking pandemic rules just like the way how traffic police issues tickets to cars based on camera shots. It would be harsh but still softer than the consequences when things get unhandled.

I'd have more law enforcement on the streets. RTE got his "nöbetci" right ?

Out on the streets, and look for people walking in pairs or more that may families. That alone should motivate ppl to do things alone. If you see man, woman and child there are good chances that they're family.

There will always be those that don't give a damn, and citizens shouldn't be the ones telling ppl to behave well, we're grown ups ffs.

We're not out trying to punish ppl, we're trying to keep everyone safe by being very careful.
