Wow. This isn't good at all in my opinion.

It's ridiculous... but here is the thing, if I knew my voter base did the right thing and protected themselves, and everyone in the opposition refused and went out partying, I'd think it's ok that they contract COVID-19 and die.

Simple, so my hope is that Nationalists are being careful.

Do the majority of people in Turkey follow the rules? I'd imagine that the Syrian refugees break the COVID-19 laws more than anyone else. Here in Australia I went a suburb which is primarily populated with middle eastern immigrants.... Almost everyone wasn't wearing a mask, thus breaking the law.

Some of these dimwits even started protesting.

I'd have more law enforcement on the streets. RTE got his "nöbetci" right ?

Out on the streets, and look for people walking in pairs or more that may families. That alone should motivate ppl to do things alone. If you see man, woman and child there are good chances that they're family.

There will always be those that don't give a damn, and citizens shouldn't be the ones telling ppl to behave well, we're grown ups ffs.

We're not out trying to punish ppl, we're trying to keep everyone safe by being very careful.
You can not stop large numbers of people by use of police.

You have to give them tickets showing them their actions are seen by the state and fine them when they have any dealings with the state. Facial and body recognition technologies cross checked with other means of identification can be used to fine citizens for their crimes. This doesn't have to be very strick; like you only charge a listing of top divergents, say 5% of the rule breakers accounting for also where and at what time and in what way they cause disorder.

You need people not only voters and siders. If you give up half of your population you are already halved as a nation. Even though a portion of the population don't want you in power they are still useful in other ways. Like a larger base paying tax, conscripting for the military, doing public services and being a consumer base for the national production.

You need to look at death numbers. In large cities local governments are in opposition parties' hands so they count the casualties. If there was a discrepancy we would know.

We know, there is disrepancy already. There is no question on that.

- People who defend disrepancies says that Government is hiding actual numbers in order to avoid panic.
- People who critisize disrepancies says that, people are not taking this issue seriously because of hiding of the numbers.

My take is, government wants to show itself successful against COVID.

We shall see some polls later and see how will people rate government on this covid issue.

How do you suggest that such a rule be enforced?

Any source to back up your claims?
Just gut feeling, looks like.
The source is health minister himself, he has accepted that asymptomatic patients are being treated at home, along with patients who is symptomatic and accounted in numbers but in good condition so they can be treated at home.
The problem is health ministry still wasn't able to integrate HES system with public transportation. Those people are going outside, going to their works since they are asymptomatic or in good condition.
The numbers are not increasing for nothing. There are many asymptomatic or symptomatic people roaming in public freely, and unlike in first times these people are using public transport to go hospital for test, or while returning from hospital.

There is no success, it is for sure. I don't think anybody still believes in this " successful management stuff"
Here is what ministry technically telling to people:

-If you have symptoms, contact with Covid patients you can still ride public transport, we dont care to deliver this information to municipalities or fine you.

-do you need to go to hospital to give samples for test? here take the public transport, we can not assign an ambulance or a team for you, neither we are interested in sending or establishing a mobile unit for samples.

-do you need to give samples? here wait in queues of 100+ people which some are definitely Covid, but probably you will turn out to be negative and later on you will get symptoms or will just roam around asymptomatic due to the contact in the queue, we don't track who has been together in samples queues.

- we have a QR code system, you scan or people scans your QR code, it looks cool but it just doesn't mean anything. It just looks cool.

-Vaccine? it will be just given to some eligible people, it is up to us how to choose these people, but don't expect to get it anytime soon, we will get like vaccines for a a few million people and half of those are reserved.

-Bus is full? Wait for the empty one, we are not into providing budget to municipalities to increase frequency of shuttles.

This governor is only interested in being an opposition politician. People do no want to go a hospital and die from other causes than Covid too. The bubble on death counts can not wholly be attributed to Covid.

Success is measured between peers, with country to country measurement.
Turkey shines like a star between nations, 17 vaccine researches are being made at the moment and vaccines from multiple countries are also sourced. Death rate is at 148 people per million which is much lower than the world average of 180.3 . Everything is obvious. Kudos to the central government. Shame on the incompetent city governor suckers.

Mind to talk to an hospital staff about this "success" ?
Most of nurses nowadays are wrapping dead bodies in ER or IC rooms by themselves, alone, it is easy to talk from home but even the midwifes are not working as nurses, wrapping dead bodies in IC room, dealing with Covid patients instead of assisting deliveries.
The daily declared patients has risen from a thousand to 6 thousand in a month we don't know how many of those are not declared, the government has seen this coming but still didn't impose strong actions, how could city governors deal with Covid unless state hasn't yet ordered malls to close down and jokingly allowed people to go and wander around in the weekend?
The hospitals are about to be full in big cities, watch those death numbers rising rapidly once hospitals are inable to assist everyone.

you have ignored the biggest part:
The Covid suspects have to reach hospital on their own, wait in queues for hours in enclosed space, give sample and return to their homes again on their own.
There isn't a mobile unit to collect samples, neither a service to carry people between hospital and home by isolating them from public or other Covid suspects. We know this kind of services are given to "some people" but not to the public.
This is not success, but a failure, it has been a year and HES system still doesn't work properly, neither integrated with public transport since Ministry of Health refuses to share HES code with municipalities.
If a person delivers sample, he can or has to go to work next day either officially, or unofficially by force of the employer.

How many Turkey has ordered , from how many different sources? 1 million + 10 million
Check out how many EU has ordered from months ago, in multi hundred millions individually from different sources, in mass amounts to vaccine great portion of population by different vaccines.
How Turkey plans to distribute vaccine effectively in short term, while even the flu vaccine application is limited with strong criteria to be met by the patient?

Tents in Croatia and record highs in Russia: Latest in Europe

Croatia has been hard hit by the Covid outbreak in recent weeks and hospitals are struggling to cope. The northern city of Varazdin has begun erecting military tents to cope with the influx of patients. Ten people died in the space of 24 hours and hospital head Nenad Kudelic has spoken of a collapse of the health care system and "wartime conditions".

Germany’s leaders have agreed Christmas restrictions, with a “lockdown light” covering restaurants and bars continuing until 20 December and beyond, but with a slight relaxation over the festive period. Afterwards, states that have low rates of infection can start loosening restrictions.
Turkey has seen a big jump of 28,351 daily infections after it changed its system of reporting to include all positive cases. Doctors’ leaders and the opposition have accused officials of hiding the true numbers. Previously the average number was around 6,000 infections a day.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has extended Covid restrictions in the Russian capital that require over-65s and at risk groups to stay at home and at least 30% of workers to work from home. The requirements will go on until at least 15 January. Nationally, Russia has reported a record 524 deaths over 24 hours and another record 25,487 infections.

I believe all around the world infections are way higher than reported and actually there is no point in announcing infections. What matters is how the healthcare system is coping with patient load. And this is indicated in HCS statistics. And particularly the casualty numbers.

Prevention has more to do with the health of the economy than the health of the healthcare system at this stage as the Turkish HCS is far from being swamped just yet.

I do not agree with you about the announcement part. It is important to announce the ”real” number of cases. People have the right to know. If you know the severity of the situation you react accordingly. Government reacts accordingly.
This is a life or death situation. State of economy is secondary. Economy has no chance of recovery if the pandemic is not beaten. Therefore we need mass vaccination program and vaccines in the 150+ million numbers have to be purchased.

What do those numbers mean to the general public; nothing. Even scientists don't have a good idea of what lethality rate the virus has with its various mutations and in different stages of the pandemic. Death numbers speaks directly with its definitive outcomes. Infection numbers do not convert to fatality on one to one basis. The only purpose infection numbers can serve is to provide an early warning message to the public which can already be otherwise conveyed by the words of the authorities. Authorities knew the infection numbers all along even if they didn't announce them.

We should wait for our national vaccine efforts to pan out before vaccinating the bigger portion of our population and not use imported vaccines in large amounts. Vaccines may not be safe, particularly the foreign ones.

Please do not underestimate the awareness and power of public. It is not just the public that were kept in the dark but the health workers and other responsible people too. Of course it matters to the general public. Just to give a rosy picture for the benefit of the tourism sector and the voting public you can not hide the truth and the reality when the country is in the grips of a deadly pandemic. Those people that are tested “positive” are potential virus transmitters. People have to be made aware.

Everybody is to be considered a transmitter not just those who tested positive. Those numbers that are deemed to be high will actually look small to people when compared to the whole population. That is a risk in itself. People can not be allowed to form their own judgment about the pandemic situation but they have to comply to what they are told by authorities. The right to know may actually turn into the wrong to know.
