Alright.. Since there have been words that have been uttered on public platforms I thought I could give some comments regarding the incident that took place in Smara.
It has been 10 days since an attack occurred by the Polisario millitia which fired Grad missiles that hit a civilian residential area. 1 Moroccan man died, and 3 injured. The incident took place one day before the UN Security Council meeting which drafted the issue of the buffer zones. The voting ended up in the Moroccan favor again.
We need to remember that the Moroccan armed forces have been hitting Polisario hard, with bombings happening on a daily to weekly basis far away from the media spotlight. The matter requires a long-term approach since infiltration takes place very often through Mauritania, where Mauritania does not have the military or political weight to stop any infiltration from Algeria.
The response to the incident in Smara has already been answered heavily. Again far away from the media
A bigger response than bombing heavily is underway... Let's see what will take place in the next weeks.
Commander of the Southern Zone, Mohammed Berrid, led a high-level military delegation to Mauritania a week ago where important issues were drafted. Minurso got called up for a meeting on Monday where it held a meeting in Rabat to discuss the incident that took place in Smara.
Draw your conclusions..
