JF-17 is cheaper than other western Counterparts and the Aircraft can be Equipped with latest turkish or chinese Weapons and Electronics. With JF-17 Morocco will not have the Kill Switch Problem, which is likely be implemented in any other western made Fighter Aircraft.
If it's about diversification then we will diversify between the Europeans and the Americans. If we would go for a non-Western fighter jet then why not go for the TFX/KAAN or the chinese J-31?

The defense budget for the Moroccan armed forces was revealed. Approximately close to 20 billion USD will be allocated for the fiscal year 2024. 12.4 billion USD will be allocated for the procurement of weapons, as well as the defense industry. The defense budget allocated to wages, building facilities, and modernization is around 7 billion USD.

Last year's budget was 18 billion USD. 11 billion USD allocated for procurement, and 7 billion USD as standard budget. (2023).

Diversification will be good, not only Algeria will be an enemy. Spain is also possible.

It goes not about hostilities, more about dettering or make any military Action to a risky and costly Adventure. Still it gives Conflicts like Ceuta Mellila Question or maybe still they see them self as protector of Sahrawis
Their time will come, we have not forgotten our land. Hopefully Spain as a sovereign state will make the decisions that are best for its own country, and region. This issue is an issue for the future, or let's say after 2030. We have greater threats that we need to deal with at the moment.

Their time will come , the Tangier/Nador ports are literally choking these cities and making them a heavy burden on Spain , a very good strategy

about deterrence , our military budgets and deals make the spanish government know with who they're dealing with .

Surplus from 2020-2021-2022-2023 will be allocated in the 2024 procurement budget. A big chunk😍

Alright.. Since there have been words that have been uttered on public platforms I thought I could give some comments regarding the incident that took place in Smara.

It has been 10 days since an attack occurred by the Polisario millitia which fired Grad missiles that hit a civilian residential area. 1 Moroccan man died, and 3 injured. The incident took place one day before the UN Security Council meeting which drafted the issue of the buffer zones. The voting ended up in the Moroccan favor again.

We need to remember that the Moroccan armed forces have been hitting Polisario hard, with bombings happening on a daily to weekly basis far away from the media spotlight. The matter requires a long-term approach since infiltration takes place very often through Mauritania, where Mauritania does not have the military or political weight to stop any infiltration from Algeria.

The response to the incident in Smara has already been answered heavily. Again far away from the media :) A bigger response than bombing heavily is underway... Let's see what will take place in the next weeks.

Commander of the Southern Zone, Mohammed Berrid, led a high-level military delegation to Mauritania a week ago where important issues were drafted. Minurso got called up for a meeting on Monday where it held a meeting in Rabat to discuss the incident that took place in Smara.

Draw your conclusions..

The Royal Armed Forces organized 47 military exercises in 2023

The Department of National Defense revealed that it organized 47 military exercises with several countries during the year 2023, with the aim of raising readiness, performance, and developing field capabilities. This was stated in a report by the ministry, and the report added that “the ministry carried out many joint military exercises with the aim of consolidating bilateral ties, raising readiness and performance, developing field capabilities, and enriching experiences and expertise.”

The Royal Armed Forces participated in multiple military exercises with France through the “Tafilalet” mobile air exercise, with Spain through the exchange of engineering departments within the framework of the disaster management program, and with Belgium through high-altitude parachute jumping training on infiltration techniques. With the United Kingdom through the Desert and Gibraltar exercise (Shamta), and with Pakistan within the framework of joint bilateral special forces exercises.

Morocco also hosted the African lion together with the United States, involving many African countries. Exercise between Morocco, and the United States took place at air, sea, and land. Morocco also conducted bilateral naval exercises with the Americans with the name "Atlas Handskale 23-1.

ITA published some surprising news regarding defense deals that have been made between the US, and Morocco.

Morocco aims to have a fully independent army, air force, and navy. The increased defense budget will also serve to strengthen the Royal Navy’s patrol fleet with two new frigates. Morocco plans to invest in a top-of-the-line coastal surveillance system, as securing the coasts has become a key priority of the kingdom. Morocco also plans to invest heavily in its Joint Command and Control capabilities and Cyber Defense.

U.S. military sales to Morocco more than doubled in 2020, growing from $4.01 billion (MAD 36 billion) to its current completed sales value of $8.5 billion (MAD 76 billion).

8.5 billion USD in deals with the Americans! Then we have other huge procurement deals we have made with Israel, China, Turkiye, France, and other states.
