Hybrid would make sense in too many ways but probably would be hard to directly couple diesel engine with electrical, if not in "AND" but "OR" configuration it would make sense too.
Coupling two engines is a curious thing which I personally want to know more of. Helicopters often use two engines turning a common shaft and the stopping of one engine does not effect the operation of the other. It should be pretty much the same thing for tanks. I am more curious whether two engines turning a common belt works well. Any ideas?

I might tell how does it work on ships when i have time (definitely not belt), but i have no information if it is the same on land units.

I need to know if several engines turning a common belt works well for a personal project. I have only seen it on amateur systems. The way helicopters work is a good example for tanks and ships though as it has been in use throughout the industry. I believe it is the reverse of how differentials work.

According to Faruk Aksit, General Manager at TEI, TS1400 is ready to be delivered to TAI. It generates more power (100-150hp more) than it's American-British equivalent, used in T-129 Atak.

Did I get that correct? It generates more power than LHTEC T800?
Perhaps in take-off mode it can provide some extra boost but in standard config, it should be more powerful by a couple dozen HP. Bear in mind in the development phase we got to know about the TS1200/1400/1500 and TS1600. The engine is flexible enough to under perform or over perform depending on the platform it is going to be used on.

Translation of Defence Turkey interview with TAI director:

TEI General Manager Faruk AKŞİT: “We operated the TS1400 including the power turbine on 22 October 2020. Our engine is ready for delivery to TAI as of now. The handover ceremony will take place in December with the participation of the President. "

TEI General Manager Faruk Akşit: "TS1400 Atak helicopter produces 100-150 horsepower more power than the equivalent engine."

TEI GM: "Our first prototype engine is ready to be delivered to TAI. We will give this engine to GÖKBEY for integration. We will subject the TS 1400 engine to many tests. We will mature it. It will take 1-2 years, its certification will continue in 1-2 years."

TEA GM: "Turkey's first turbine, called a jet engine among the public, to design, develop, we have established a large part of the infrastructure that will test and produce. It can no longer produce the core of a jet engine meant that."

Ahmet Fındık, TEI Turboshaft Engines Director, said: "We are planning to start certification tests for the TS1400 engine in mid-2023. We aim to complete these tests in a short period of 1.5 years. We aim to deliver the first certified engines at the end of 2024."

TEI R&D Director Dr. Mehmet Demiroğlu: "Our PD 170 engine is an engine that has been analyzed, designed and produced here. It is an engine that has successfully completed EASA tests and has been qualified by SSB. Everything except a very small ready-made part is produced in Eskişehir."

Demiroğlu: "The serial production of the PD 170 engine started in 2020. We have delivered more than 20 engines to TAI so far. In a couple of months, we will remove 20 of our engines from mass production and deliver 40 engines in total."

Demiroğlu: "The mass production figures we aim for in 2021 will be between 40 and 50 engines. This figure will vary depending on the type of platforms our engine will be used on. It will be used in ANKA at the moment. We are planning to integrate it both in AKINCI and AKSUNGUR.

Demiroğlu: "As our flights on the platform increase, our opportunity to compete in exports will increase even more. We can make a surprise in exports in 2021. Let me say that for now. We are working for this."

Demiroğlu: "Our PD 222 engine is an engine we built on our PD 170 engine, it will not take long to emerge. Our goal is to finish our design work in the middle of 2021. By the end of 2021, we plan to complete the platform integration works."

Demiroğlu: "Again, a platform could be AKINCI or another platform. We are planning to integrate on it."

With the TS1400 ready to be delivered for the Gokbey in 2024-25, that is plenty of time for the Gokbey to develop into different platforms and roles, such as SAR, combat support, civilian (government) roles and even as a naval GP helicopter or a ASW helicopter. Not that Turkey needs those but it could be exported to other countries.

We should give a discount to Pakistan for them to take ATAKs with uncertified TEI1400 engines to be upgraded to a certified engine at no cost when certification is complete. For an early batch of like 5 pieces.

4 years is a long time. They will probably try to squeeze time to two years. Still we should offer such an option if they have an urgency.

If the US doesn't allow the export of the Atak engine within one year max, then consider the deal with PAF cancelled I am afraid.

Have they said they won't wait or what?
They should go the unmanned route and employ UAVs to release their urgency for helis which is what they are doing apparently looking at recent moves from them.

No sources, just my feeling. There is another attack helicopter waiting to be ordered (Z-10), which is additional pressure on the Atak deal.

UAVs have changed war recently and Pakistan seems to have been watching closely. I am not sure for what missions they want the helicopters axactly other than the fact that they want to use them at the highlands. UAVS maybe a viable option for their missions partially or wholly.

Current Turkish UAV's won't work against Indian armor under ADS umbrella and Indian CAP. Pakistan needs an attack helicopter that can fly low, pop up, shoot and run away. An UAV doesn't have that capability and flexibility (yet).

Not just yet.

They are great for COIN and low-intensity conflict, but in a full-scale war against India they are not that effective.
