So what are you suggesting?
If we absolutely have to use Hürkuş against a regular army, which we wouldn't, we simply give it longer range munitions to keep it at least out of the range of manpads to increase its survivability. Tolun has about a 100 kms of range and weighs around 140 kgs for example. We have guidance kits for MK-81 bombs, we have Mam-T and soon will have IHA-230 and IHA-122.

We are talking about real life, not a computer game. Every loss is not only a loss of qualified pilots, which costs a lot of money and time to train, but also a waste of resources. War means casualties yes but it also means you also do everything in your power to limit those casualties. Not only do we not have the luxury of throwing lives and equipment away like Russia is doing in Ukraine, but also I fucking hope people in charge are smarter than that.

While i understand your concern and agree with most of it ...the present tech still couldn't compensate on the benefits of direct situational awareness ...
Just take a look at merkava's fates in gaza . Too much dependency on tech make them almost blind to the real situational challenges on the ground . While it's not an apple to orange comparison... The challenges aee real ..
There is always something to give and trade and it won't come cheaply

We need Hürkus not as an Bomb Truck, this Job will do the Drones, a way more effective than Hürkus could do. Hürkus will be usefull to fight Terrorists which crossed the turkish Border and also for Defence against slow flying Drones.

Hürkuş should primarily serve as a platform that meets the needs of the main objectives that led to the emergence of the program, and should serve our air force and other force commands in need with the variants that are currently being prepared.

However, this is a domestic aviation program. The institutions and teams that created and preparing the aircraft are entirely national resources. All critical systems are the result of indigenous R&D or adapted systems.

This program should continue to evolve and expand with experimental side projects. I believe that the program should explore its potential through experimental projects, if not as a priority. Unmanned systems and autonomous vehicles are our strongest area, especially in the foreign market. Hürkuş is a system that has achieved export success without serving in our own forces yet. An experimental project that will combine these two ends can be a great industrial gain. I also believe, like many of our friends, that it can be designed as a solution that can be included in our own military inventory.

İf the answer is yes , next question which type of aircraft could fulfill this role?

Why go through the trouble of removing the canopy and making the air-frame a totally different one that needs to be optimized with its new shape. It is best to keep the aerodynamics of the airplane intact and just remove the ejection seat that is heavy and install communication equipment and autopilot. This way they can be reverted to their original function when need be. Practically turning them into optionally manned rather than a crippled unmanned freak.

I think those who want an unmanned Hürkuş forget that Akıncı already meets this need.
Akıncı is slow moreover their attack capabilities work on at high altitude. They are Very Vulnerable against air defense systems at this altitude.

I don't underestimate Akıncı/Aksungur etc but their tactical use is different. They have also limits.

Low flying, Rapid CAS aircrafts have different tactical uses.

Akıncı-C with a pair of 950hp engines probably improved speed and payload capacity considerably.

TR-Motor should start making turboprop engines suitable for heavy drone use.

Unless they are thinking about employing Cs on for COIN, that's a big number. Big enough to think that maybe HvKK's beloved 40 KT-1Ts are goners.

Re COIN and HvKK, in a country where police operates T129s and KKK operates TB2s, giving HvKK armed turboprops for overwatch and COIN is just dumb, they don't have sufficient numbers as is. Just let KKK have them if they want it.

Regarding 55 number from Jan 5:
"Turkish Aerospace Industries will bring a total of 55 (15+40) more advanced HÜRKUŞ-2s into the inventory of the Turkish Air Force's 122nd Basic Jet Flight Training Squadron."

Will Özgür modernization continue after the 23 billion dollar purchase?

What will happen to the domestic AESA radar, domestic air-air missiles, domestic air-ground bombs?

Will they both be together? For example, like "120 f16 viper and 120 f16 Özgür"?

That's the idea, block 30-40 to Özgür, 50+ CCIP to 70

Just a few months ago, ASELSAN and TAI signed agreements for the modernization of F-16s with a contract value of around USD 2 billion. So there is a contract in place and a program already underway, and the first jets will be delivered this year. With this agreement with the US, the entire fleet will be overhauled and up-to-date.

That's the idea, block 30-40 to Özgür, 50+ CCIP to 70
50 Block-40M and 29 Block 50+ will be upgraded to V configuration, besides with 40 new V procurement. I think all remaining F-16s will be renewed under the Özgür programs.
