It is known that Azerbaijan has been unable to purchase the Turkish SOM cruise missile for a long time due to its French engine. The Azerbaijani publication "Haqqin Az" writes that after this obstacle was removed with the development of the KTJ-3200, Azerbaijan ordered more than 400 (!) of these missiles from Roketsan.

The SOM model was first demonstrated at a military parade in Baku in 2018

I don't believe the 400 number, Azerbaijan generally doesn't buy such strategic weapons in such massive quantities, does Turkey itself even have 400 SOMs?

Four hundred is really huge tbh. But if it was true, such a deal would be dispersed over years with a delivery schedule.

SOM has been around for quite a while now. We first saw it in IDEF11 with much disbelief only to witness their firing test and rapid service entry just a year or so later.
so we have been mass producing them since 2013 at the latest so providing 400 units to Azerbaijan is not too far-fatched.

What I'd like to know is how many units do we have in Turkish Armed Forces inventory?? I have a vague recollection of the number 800, and that was years ago.

It seems to me that Turkey should have not a measly 400, but at least 4,000!
15 years ago, the US had 8,000 Tomahawks alone.
I am not saying this for the sake of rhetoric, but taking into account the global tension.
Here is some data for comparison:
In 1991, the Americans fired 122 Tomahawks in the first salvo at Iraq.
In 2011, 112 Tomahawks were fired at 20 targets in Libya.
In 2017, the US fired at least 40 Tomahawks at just one airbase in Syria!!!
Space images confirmed 40 hits on the airbase in Homs.
That is, the Americans considered it expedient to fire 40 expensive missiles at one target.
It should also be taken into account that the Tomahawk warhead weighs about half a ton, while the SOM warhead weighs only 230 kg.
Russia had even more of them before the war. In 3 years, the Russians launched more than 10,000 missiles at Ukraine!!!
Our neighbor Iran has more than 3,000 ballistic missiles alone.
I don’t know how many missiles Turkey needs, but Russia’s neighbors should definitely take into account that the Russians produce missiles practically according to the principle: you can’t spoil porridge with butter.

Some data from here

Cheap, smart and effective is the way to go. Missiles like SOM are meant for strategic targets

To have 4000 SOM’s is not realistic at all. We don’t have the money to buy and produce all these. We are not the United States.

Although we don't have official figures at all, I'd be very surprised if it was more than 150. SOM had a very troublesome development between 2011-2022. Only now after localization of the engine can we expect a larger number, and even then, it's an expensive munition.

Less about the money and more about over producing risking shelf-life expiry.
Anyway, it wouldn't matter even if we had a few hundred, we can produce them in the quantities needed on our own time frame schedule, with our own propulsion systems.

Less about the money
Also pretty much about money. We don't have unit costs but a very conservative figure of a million dollar each is 4 billion for 4000 SOMs. Dare I say that's probably more than air force spends on all munitions purchases over few years. There's a reason why MAM-L, converted from UMTAS ATGM is our most used munition.

Which is probably very slow. SOM is a special weapon, we can't build hundreds in a year.

This issue was discussed previously.
pls see post
Official price given was over 1 million dollars each for SOM
In 2018 a contract was signed for 415 SOM to be produced for Turkish Armed Forces.

"Diplomatic circles confirmed to enikos.gr the exploratory discussions between Croatia and Turkey for the construction of 2 to 3 ADA corvettes. The same sources reported that representatives of the manufacturing company “Savunma Teknolojileri Muhendislik ve Ticaret” (STM) recently met in Zagreb for meetings. The Turkish Embassy there is said to play a special role, which has already made exploratory contacts with the Croatian Minister of Defense. The discussions follow the visit of the Turkish Corvette Burgazada to Split last October.

Now this for a change is an interesting visit. Koreans usually build their own stuff but maybe there's room for cooperation.
