Yeah but China is viewed as Pakistan’s BFF and also a country hostile towards India so they can’t like them.

The friend of my enemy is my enemy too.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Well what an irony the only country made exclusively for Muslims is BFF with the only country that is persecuting the Muslims on an industrial-scale ........ anyway the reason majority of Indians respect Israel is for their out of box solutions, advancements in science especially agriculture and water recycling ... their research in agriculture can help India at grass root level for ex. with their collaboration can become Rajasthan green . The extent they go to value the life of their own citizens is another factor that attracts Indians.

RIO DE JANEIRO: Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite a shipment of AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine amid broader delays to the vaccine's arrival in Brazil, according to a letter on Friday.

Bolsonaro's letter, released by his press office, comes amid growing pressure to speed up Brazil's vaccine rollout and end the world's second-deadliest coronavirus outbreak. Critics say the immunization campaign is running behind regional peers, and they question why the government has not moved more quickly.

"To enable the immediate implementation of our National Immunization Program, I would appreciate ... the supply to Brazil, with the possible urgency and without jeopardizing the Indian vaccination program, of 2 million doses," Bolsonaro wrote in the letter, shared by his press office.

His message to Modi comes as the federally funded Fiocruz biomedical center said on Friday that the active ingredients needed to fill and finish millions of doses of AstraZeneca's coronavirus vaccine in Brazil, previously slated to arrive in the country on Saturday, may not land until the end of the month.

Fiocruz, which was counting on the shipment Saturday to supply the government with doses this month, said it was in talks to import more finished doses of the vaccine, likely from India on top of the 2 million it has already ordered.

A source involved said the active ingredient is ready to be shipped to Brazil but is waiting for an export license from China, where it is produced.
Earlier, Fiocruz requested an emergency use authorization for AstraZeneca vaccines coming from India, which are expected to arrive in Brazil in the middle of this month.

Indian vaccine diplomacy will be very relevant in 2021. What are members thoughts and comments?

An interesting up close look at the operations IA under blue helmet did/doing in South Sudan:

India has two Army battalions and a total of 2,547 men and women peacekeepers in South Sudan as the world’s largest democracy helps the world’s youngest country on the path of peace. In the first of a series of reports, SNI Associate Editor Amitabh P Revi and Video Journalist Prateek Suri document the areas of operations of INDBATT II, the 7 Garhwal Rifles Infantry Battalion, based in Bor and among other regions, Akobo, where only Indian blue-helmets are present.

I apologize before saying, but India should lobby for the Embraer deal and ensure some private Indian firm buy the Embraer part which is on sale ... we can provide them vaccine on priority and they can help us by buying the Embrarer

That can be done separately, there is lot of scope to increase relations with Brazil across the board.

In any case such things will be done by the diplomats and negotiators involved...off the book in the specific meetings involved for that.

On the book, there is lot more to expand by positive promotion of India - Brazil ties in respective media and economic streams.

India should expedite shipment to Brazil and all other countries. Bangladesh already backed off and went for Pfizer due to delays and pricing with SII's vaccine

India is a leader in global pharma exports...something which we're really good at. I don't think it's a good idea to club our pharma industry with defence. Serum Institute of India is the world's largest producer of vaccines

When Denel went under the bus, Kalyani and other such firms bought their designs which is what Kalyani's newly developed artillery systems are based on. We can probably follow a similar approach with Embraer

I think BD is going for the oxford-astrazeneca one through SII:

I think there are two Pfizers...the moderna one and also COVAX (WHO consortium)....so if BD signed for something for the latter (I think), that won't affect SII order.

The COVAX one is different to local Indian indigenous one (Bharat biotech COVAXIN).

I agree....there should only be positive bridge building diplomacy w.r.t vaccines since its human lives at stake.

We should not be cutthroat on it to mix/conflate with other matters we have going on with countries around world, especially many oceans away and especially those we have so much potential to develop with. Those matters should be handled in proper avenue for those.

India should just let it (vaccine diplomacy and provision) augment to it's good name and let good things (in return) come by that downstream.

I thought SII's vaccine was developed locally as well. Isn't that the case?

SII is the oxford-astrazeneca one.

They are just going to pump out millions of them (at Pune I think?) for India and the world basically for 2021.

The local developed one is Bharat Biotech one (COVAXIN), their facility is at Hyd. I think.

Nathuram Godse rehabilitated from traitor to patriot for many, as Gandhi’s vision of secular India eroded by ruling BJP

Last Sunday, in a nondescript building in the India city of Gwalior, 200 miles south of Delhi, a large crowd of men gathered. Most wore bright saffron hats and scarves, a colour evoking Hindu nationalism, and many held strands of flowers as devotional offerings.
They were there to attend the inauguration of the Godse Gyan Shala, a memorial library and “knowledge centre” dedicated to Nathuram Godse, the man who shot Mahatma Gandhi. The devotional yellow and pink flowers were laid around a black and white photograph of Godse, the centrepiece of the room.

On 30 January 1948, Godse stepped out in front of Gandhi and shot him three times at point-blank range. A fervent believer in Hindu nationalism, Godse thought Gandhi had betrayed India’s Hindus by agreeing to partition, leading to the creation of Pakistan, and by championing the rights of Muslims. In 1949, Godse was hanged for Gandhi’s murder.

In the following decades, Godse was widely decried as a terrorist and traitor, the murderer of the “father of India”. Yet, in recent years, as Hindu nationalism has moved from an extremist fringe to mainstream Indian politics – the ruling Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) has a Hindu nationalist agenda at their core – Godse’s public reputation has steadily shifted from being condemned as traitor to being venerated as a misunderstood Indian patriot.

Meanwhile, Gandhi’s vision of a secular India with equal rights for all religions has been eroded and subjugated since the BJP came to power in 2014.

“Godse did the right thing by killing Gandhi,” said Devendra Pandey, 53, national secretary of Hindu Mahasabha, the Hindu nationalist organisation behind the memorial library.
