DBSantasalo has experience in developing and producing transmissions for heavy tracked vehicles.
Challenger 2 is very similar in weight to Altay. This should allow them to use the experience gained from Challenger 2 to help us develop an suitable and reliable transmission for Altay in a relative short time.
Engine is most likely getting input either from CAT/Perkins(England) or Doosan(South Korea) that would explain the fast development time. As long as all right belong to Turkey I couldn't care less about it though.
Doosan is the more likely candidate here as their own engine is similar to the MTU-883 to fit the K2, same problem Altay faces.
If the DV27K is compatible with our own transmission we could see the first batch of Altay go into production with an South Korean-Turkish Powerpack until BATU is ready for serial production.
Or Doosan+S&T South Korean Powerpack(if the S&T Transmission holds up in tests) until a fully indigenous Powerpack is ready (BATU+Transmission).
