upgrading leopard 1 while we have leopard 2? Sorry but I see no logic in that.

OOoo.. Think of the possibilities! We have hundreds of M60 tanks that could be modernised, cannon, armour and even UTKU 1000HP Powerpack! We could transfer these tanks to KKTC.
And then make a better job by increasing engine power to 1200 hp.

A3s Still better than M48s and may be M60s.. Turkey might consider upgrade Leo1s instead of M60s. Same armor package etc could be applied like Leo2s, just basic upgrade. Some already have Volkan FCS (A1s)

To be honest this is objectively false. Depending on the variant the Leopard 1 is inferior to M60 no matter how you look at it and were never worth the Volkan upgrade. Why we chose to do a limited upgrade for a completely absolute leopard1A1 variant is beyond me. Maybe we the Leopard1A3's variants would have received something similar to the Canadian C2 package to make it relevant, but then it would make mores sense to upgrade the more modern and newer M60A3's and M60A3TTS's. There are close to a dosen existing upgrade package's for M60 tank.

ASELSAN and TÜBITAKs AKKOR

AKKOR Active Protection System is mentioned in the ASELSAN 2020 annual report:

"PULAT, the first Tank Electronic Warfare Active Protection System in our country, entered the inventory in 2020 and took its place in the field, making our country the third country in the world to use a product of this level in the field. While continuing intensive development activities for AKKOR Active Protection System, as of 2021 is aimed to be completed. "

> The System is set to enter Inventory 2021 according to this 2020 Report.

On 11th March 2021 Tübitak SAGEs Gürcan Okumus tweeted this. "Patch of the day..."

Aselsan has completed the modernisation of M60T tanks.
In a very short time they have completed the modernisation. Let us hope that the Leo2A tank modernisation for 350 or so tanks are completed at a similar pace.
Volkan-M fire control system that was recently live tested, Pulat active protection and many other improvements will make these M60 tanks some of the best equipped M60’s in the world.

They should have given the Leopard 2A4 modernization also to Aselsan, BMC is like a bottomless pit all the money thrown in did not result much till now. Hope I am wrong on engines though, if that is also a fail than.... I do not even want to speak it out.

2 years for them. Then they will have to give up the projects to the competitors.

Aselsan activity report bro
View attachment 20684

"Our country has organized major operations to destroy the terrorist elements that formed on its borders in 2016 and after. As a result of the losses of our tanks during the operations, it was decided to strengthen the tanks in terms of armor. In the press release shared by Roketsan on 15 February 2021, it was shared that 2 Leopard 2A4-T1 tanks were delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in December 2020. Within the scope of the project, a total of 40 tanks are planned to be modernized. In addition, ballistic tests of the armor were carried out between July-December 2019 and it was emphasized that full protection was provided in all firing tests."

> Presentation at Roketsan 30th August 2020

> Tests between July and December 2020

> 40 Modernized Leopard 2A4-T1 to be delivered in 2021 ( 3 Tanks per Month )

- I don't know what ASELSAN has to do with the Armor Upgrade since this one is made by Roketsan, Officially. Perhaps they helped in Development or Testing of the Armor Upgrade

Well speaking about the Devil...

"Sancak-Öztürk will sell 51 percent of their shares to Tosyalı Holding, a leading iron and steel producer, which also has close ties to Erdoğan.
Tosyalı operates three facilities on three continents and produces six million tons of steel annually. The company employs over 10,000 people.
Its other business interests include maritime, port operation, foreign trade and power generation."

> 51% of BMC Group will be acquired by Tosyali Holding
> 49% of BMC Group will remain with Qatari

- Tosyali Family makes the list of Bilionaires in Turkey

> They appear to be very high up the Food chain.

> It gets interesting. Fuat Tosyalı, Tosyalı Holding Chairman of the Board, was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Turkish Wealth Fund with the decision of the President.
