8 frigates and 36 Rafale!! Damn!! Indonesia is on 🔥🔥. So, can we expect a transfer of technology? Will PT-PAL build half of these cause that's what the press release is indicating.

PAL focus Iver 😁

Common sense,
Japanese frigates are multi-purpose, so does the FREMM (assuming the deal was for General Purpose Frigate)
Meanwhile Iver Huitfeldt was meant to be AAW Frigate (If i am not mistaken), so makes it down to either Japanese or Italians, and looks like Italians have won.
So either;
Italians have sold AAW Frigate and Iver Huitfeldt is going to be General purpose, or
Italians have sold General purpose frigate and Iver Huitfeldt is going to be AAW Frigate.

The leaked wishlist from Rapim TNI clearly stated that the Navy wants 16 140m frigates. So we'll have 6 FREMM + 2 Iver after this Fincantieri announcement. We still have 8 empty slots which actually fits the Mogami news (8 frigates).

The above message applies, why iver-huitfeldt should remain at 2?
Think broader mate, if there is sufficient knowledge to build it locally, why buy from abroad? First two will be jointly produced and latter 6 can be re-designed, equipped according to the taste (either ASW, MP or AAW)
The need to buy from abroad arisen due to the urgent needs.

Italy already decomissioned 4 Maestrale Class, why don't we take 4 of it, and just take 2?

could be, another requirement for another 6 or more hulls could be satisfied with the Iver's and even more so if it's locally build.

My only hope is the Iver program could run more smoothly and on budget so we could gradually upgraded and upscaled the Iver class in batches .
Bigger and stronger variant that Could be tailored more suited to our specific need and discretion .
Who knows .... Perhaps in the future all the sensor , engine and armament could be sourced from a JV of our respective national defence companies . Far too long we've been beholden by other's whims and machination at the expense of our own interest , profit and sovereignity .

Naaah ..... If it wasn't for 08 . There is litle chance fremm get noticed by indonesian public at all . Add that with our dissapointment at Damen side as an impetus for finding a new suplier or else It was the Omega class that would bag this contract .
Somehow i'm still imagining about some one at Damen office banging his head on his office table after reading this ... Today . While most of the problem were trully coming from our side they really shooting themselves at foot with their latest charade ... Boy , we are surely can hold a grudges there .....

😎😎
so, Is it as AH leaked the days before today just co incidence?

Still need more high end hull to build proper three fleets command unit (Indonesian Navy had three Fleets, in which the third fleet is only skeleton unit without any meaningful assets). That's why they need at least 18 larger surface combatant warships to properly build up 3 fleets according to 2-2-2 rules (two in active service, two in maintenance routine or stand by and two in heavy maintenance). Meanwhile according the plan they would be supplement by several smaller Frigates/Corvettes/OPV (most would be as replacement of Parchim class) but the plan is delayed further as they put priority toward the Heavy vessels first. The other delayed plan is utility helicopters, ASW helicopters and ASW Aircraft for the Navy. As the Navy is intended to build the surface combatant warships fleets and the silent service first as it was the most time consuming ones to be built and train the crew.

well yap i would love to see that gundam style CIC of Mogami Class, thus if they really acquired near this time, the shipbuilding progress will be on parallel without interrupting one and another

How much is the worth of the deal?

How much does Indonesia pay????

My friend said it more than four Billion US Dollar as it is actually almost a complete package included weaponry and ILS for years, for the exact number of total cost i can't said as it is quite sensitive issue politically in my country right now.
