We know that in each of DSCA announcement release there always this line "The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region."
Of course, they will put that statements, otherwise the sale won't be able to proceed. That is why there is a need for lobbyist. Writing anything that is contradicting the premise of it will require complete rewriting of the 🇺🇸 foreign policy in this region, which will hindering any sales proceeding (which is terrible for everyone involved)

Now the question after all the new fighter came is, what we're going to do with the Sukhoi fleet. Are we going to make them hangar queen's or something❓ Their pilots is precious asset and should retrain and re qualified for either the Rafale or F-15EX

Whatever the way it is military balance in the region had been destroyed since China Made permanent presence in the region

Two aircraft Carrier with complete package (with one on the Pipeline), permanent Outpost Naval base in Woody Islands capable to launch heavy bomber and plethora of Nuclear powered Attack Submarine

Not so fast. We know that MSP still have huge influence in many stuff especially since that guy holds the power in the palace.

We also don't know the fate of $1.1 bil PSP approved budget that's originally allocated for SU-35.

Before we know it we might end up with even more Sukhoi fleets.

I dont think we are going to retain our Sukhoi if Eagle II comes in. If situation get hot we could always put the Sukhoi in "sleep" mode and continue to retrain the pilots to new fighter assets.

Yup, thats why I am curious on this particular project to see how US going to respond. I am more worry on China escalating narative about 9 dash line, now they pursuing more on the line to become their teritorial line while also add more line to 10 dash line that include Taiwan. If that is the case then what we have now on the North Natuna island dispute will not be just EEZ claim but become teritorial claim. This could lead to serious dispute or should I say already is a serious dispute hence our procurement plan. :cautious:

The situation at our northern border are worrisome. Although I've notice that our policymaker & decision maker aware of this and already making plan & action, they do seem very reluctant of going public with it out of fear of triggering another domestic political chaos and hatred.

Anyway, I'm more worried about how TNI focusing too much at Natuna, while other northern border region could potentially be exploited for hostile force manoeuvring (example, along ALKI II). Keep in mind that the primary objective for our OPFOR will be to securing access to Indian Ocean. And that can also be done trough ALKI II. It's very risky move, but then again back in WW2, the Imperial Japan also pull similarly risky move.

That's why they take Tarakan first, securing oil field there and small air field located strategically there in which they can punish American forces in Mindanao unpunished and move downward toward more larger Cities like Makassar and Balikpapan then securing Banjarmasin before enter Java Sea

Me kinda concerned about the recent China massive Investment accompanied by massive influx of their so called "civillian" in Sulawesi Utara, Tengah, Selatan and Tenggara and possibly in North Kalimantan. Armed Forces need to ramp up presence in Kalimantan and Sulawesi along with Ambon Maluku area.

All I know some get thru and in still in process, some get back to drawing board and some awaiting on the sellers respond. Tho we wont see any official statement from the Govt about arm purchase for the next couple of weeks or so due to this Covid "tsunami", it would be politically incorrect ;)

Anyway there are 2 projects that I eagerly want to see the outcome:

1. The reveal on used Submarine purchase (type & source)

2. The fate of our F15EX project

For me the F15EX is the most interesting project. We know that we got rejected to get F35, everyone know we are in a process to get 36 Rafale and we also know from high official statement here that the aim is 36 F15EX or should I say F15 Eagle II. Regardless on whether we can afford it or not I would like to see US response about it. We know that in each of DSCA announcement release there always this line "The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region."

Now are they going to look the military balance towards their own close ally here in the region or they see it as the military balance of their close ally and "friends" towards China aggresive move in SCS? Those 36 rafale + 36 F15 Eagle II + 32 F16 + 16 Sukhois definetly going to move the military balance bar of the region if all comes to fruition isnt it? 😁

Yeah. It will change the stragetic overlap. You can add KFX block 2 which is fully stealth and 5th generation..

I think block 3 is the fully stealth, for block 2 the weapons will be carried internally, not sure about the other details. I hope for the block 3 would use IWB, and all those protruding sensors, electronics and targeting pod can be more stealthy.

Exactly my point (y)
North Sulawesi have shown to be leaning more toward pro 🇨🇳 (I blame the National Gov't policies on this). Which is why I kept mentioning it indirectly in my other post's

New orders rose 37% to 8.244 billion euros ($9.70 billion), led by major satellite contracts in Europe and Indonesia.

I had invited to some discussion by Lemhanas and most of Army, Navy and Air Force repeatedly voicing their concern about this. There is reason why KODAM Merdeka is being formed again and talk to increasing units of KOSTRAD III Division is located in Sulawesi along with realization to formed additional Naval and Air Force base in Sulawesi and eastern part of Kalimantan.

There is difference between Armed Forces and Civillian government about Investment and placement of such large number of TKA in Indonesia

Thales defense? Military satellite?
If this news is accurate, then I'm pretty much disappointed. It's always good to have dedicated comm bird. However, when budget is extremely tight, the funding is best to be spent elsewhere, such as for the terrestrial based supporting infrastructure. The benefits of having your own comm bird is simply ain't worth it when budget is tight.
