well if i recall correctly, the fact that we are located at a strategic crossroad have made us a perfect location for naval battle ground since WW2. It is a matter of choosing our options really. If we would like to maintain our independence from foreign influence then we'd better be ready to...

Indonesia need a strong navy to fight and win battle from the ZEE up to our territorial water. until we expand, improve and excel our striking power, power projection capability and maintenance, our nenek moyang is not a pelaut but more of a petani

if we want to go boom boom with nuclear power, in addition to SSN might as well ask the french to provide us with ASMP for our Rafales. imagine performing maritime strike against PLAN southern fleet with ASMP :sneaky:

well in all fairness i believe not even the USA can compete with the pace of PRC's ship building 😵 at the very least we need to have the capability to welcome some trespassing ships and ram those ships if they decide to do something stupid and brings our big bully friends to gang up on them if...

Well mr and mrs. diplomat should now either (i) advise the govt to pick a side and become a reliable partner to whoever we choose to be bff with (and this should apply for the long run), and (ii) learn that in real world you have to carry a big stick if you want other people to listen to you...

yep that is a big red question that also need to be rectified if we really want to improve our sub force. they can start by having the navy chief of staff and related admirals resign first as a sign that they acknowledge the failure. as long as it is still business as usual, i don't expect any...

the sad thing is, when the budget did materialize we all know what happen to the budget right? majority went to the personal pocket of those in charge and the acquisition is based not on the required capability to deter potential foes, but which makelar have better connection and provide better...

well at least our admirals' operational cars are more luxurious than those of RAN or USN admirals though. 1 old sub with shady maintenance got sunk with all hand lost and the region is heating up with quality subs are nothing to worry about. cheers guys

but if you look at the number of hulls in each class of PCFG acquired by Indonesia to date (with the exception of Komar), it is quite common that each class numbered only single digit hulls. So while I agree that ideally for PCFG (heck for all class of ships really) if the capability is more or...

wonder why the lack of mass use of RCWS, perhaps it's just another "padat karya" thing I bet Thales Hawkei is a far superior product compared to Komodo, but then again always manage expectation by acknowledging the fact that as long as makelar driven acquisition is still being maintained...

what I find peculiar is that it seems we like the bushmaster as we accept this grant of 15 bushmasters, but we never actually make a bushmaster purchase (as in by sales and purchase agreement) even though there's already Sanca as a rebadged version that can be produced by Pindad and labelled as...

IMHO our Herc J would still retain all the avionics of standard J model anywhere in the world. What may not be present is the defensive suites

AFAIK no more harpoon and no more yakhont, with the exception of those hulls that have C-802 installed (provided that their missiles are still available and active) technically the rest are no longer valid for FFG qualification and better qualified as OPV (considering there are also OPV that can...

i count we already have at least 20 something OPV if we count the Ahmad Yani, Fatahilah and Parchim class. The fact that they can only count on their main gun as the primary weapon and their size and endurance made them effectively OPV

I think to date the only time when we acquire a class of FAC that can really perform their intended role is when we acquire the Mandau class. Sad. But I hope we do not repeat the same mistake with our new capital ships, so they can come fully and properly equipped
