A naval use specced plane has superior capability compared to a land based one in that it can take off from shorter air strips. On the flip side it is likely to have lesser carrying capacity than a conventional landing model. If a plane equipped for land based operation is made it can carry more...

Another option to supplement or replace thrust reversing is to deploy booster rockets between the vertical fins with exhausts facing forward. These booster charges get deployed at touchdown stopping the plane within the allocated runway. These rocket fuel charges would be replenished before each...

It would be a crown jewel if they could land this flyer on a short strip like on the Anadolu without using an arresting mechanism but by using thrust reversing and vectoring vanes, I am clapping already.

Baykar brings new capability to the table, this is exciting. We need to give credit to where the credit is due.

Also, Hürjet is supposed to land on TCG Anadolu too, or that's what TAI will try to accomplish therefore there will have to be some stop system on the ship which means modifications. Several planes will need to be accommodated with the ships on board systems so making modifications is more...

That's so untrue. I never heard that the plane would land with no modification on the landing strip, it is supposed to be stopped by some means on the ship by help of a hook that is on the plane or possibly by an elastic barrier. The 2023 date is a very realistic date as the US is making even...

I was thinking a thrust reversing vane brake would be an overkill but seems more plausible now which will make the plane land on even shorter strips. Like the nozzle vectored down first to make the plane lighter and upon touch down it turns to braking position using all its power to reverse the...

It's is not that Baykar doesn't have a good plan but you now the resistance from the advocates of that "oh so precious we don't want it to be modified TCG Anadolu" conservatives.

I am not talking about a VTOL, I am talking about a partial VTOL that can not land straight down, it can be considered an ESTOL (E for extremely). An F35 type VTOL is way more expensive to make. My suggestion is simple two vanes on the top and bottom of the engine as an attachment. Similar to...

MIUS : Is it possible to land on TCG Anadolu without help from a barrier recovery system? If MIUS can be fitted with thrust vectoring vanes on top and bottom sides of the engine thrust can be vectored down and up to help landing and take off. During landing MIUS can approach with the exhaust...

The wide aft body with cavitation inside seems to serve the purpose of hiding heat signature primarily. On the other hand it does help with generating lift during take off and landing with a wider surface to pressurize the air underneath. Also it would be hard to bring the wide shape of the...

Folding wings probably introduce some weak points in the structures. For a plane as small as the MIUS I would do away with wing folding. Wing folding is primarily for stowage so finding a good way to stow the plane with full span wings should be the way to go.

There has even been talk about it that there is some cavity around the engine which shows that the fuselage is wider than for 4th generation fighters to accommodate internal weapons bay. The plane in the picture is a tanker, a totally different design and is irrelevant.

The fuselage of MIUS has a noticeably wide body which contributes to lift especially under ground effect which can enable shorter overall wingspan that it seems to have now. There can be more design trade-offs to be made before the design is matured. The fact that MIUS can take off without help...

We will have MIUS and what not within 5 years. TFX as a plane that will have engine running by early 2023 can be flying in small batches by 2025 if rushed a little.
