Korea and Türkiye were several decades long partners of LM and GE. NATO and F-35 partnerships alone we have and Korea doesn't are huge advantages despite that we were behind Korea. We had no partnerships in rocket production so we are barely at the same level of children that make rockets in their garages in US that end up breaking the 100km line. India is in the elite tier of space technologies. Freaking Iran is decades ahead of us in rocket tech. So there is that.
Don't intend to hijack this thread...mods please delete or move this post if irrelevant

We're pretty good with strategic systems like missiles, artillery and rocket tech, ADs', rotary wing, AWACS, naval platforms etc but they simply don't make the cut for exports or even during a limited conflict. Our beef with pakistan or the terrorist menace in Kashmir is primarily limited to CI/CT ops or border skirmishes where you're not firing a BM/CM or dropping tons of JDAMs and that's where tactical platforms come into play which Turkey has mastered

A fighter jet program is simply not developing a jet but the scientific research that goes into the associated tech (avionics, EW, sensors, stealth etc) and establishing the required supply chain. After our LCA Tejas Mk-1 which used several Israeli, Russian, French and American sub-systems, majority of it were indigenized in the Mk-1A from AESA, avionics, EW and integrated several indigenous weapons with only the ejection seat (Martin Baker) and engine (GE-404/414) being the primary imports. But the Mk-2 is delayed since IAF top brass wants more Rafales and are constantly changing requirements of indigenous programs so they can eventually kill the project by citing delays and go the import route. We're also now embarking on a $7.5B program to indigenously upgrade around 90 Su-30 MKIs' which is like $80-85M ish per unit which seems pricey considering considering that most of the upgrades are from domestic sources while a brand new Su-35 costs around $100M but we all know where a major chunk of that $7.5B is going to

The import lobby penetrated so deep into the Indian defense procurement committees that something as basic as an assault rifle is being imported or built via JV
This my friend is an M72 Assault Rifle developed by an Indian firm SSS Defence. Looks pretty decent imo and some of our SF units have also tested it and had great things to say about it

But IA's top brass decided to go for an AK-203 instead solely because they received kickbacks. Heck we're not even receiving an AK-203 but a hybrid of 103 and 203

These are just a couple of examples but given the push for indigenization by the Turkish govt and armed forces in both strategic and tactical levels, I wouldn't be surprised if y'all are on par with Israel, Germany, Spain, Italy etc in terms of defense exports in the next couple of decades

Read the article.

For me its basically "We got curstomped by the Turks so here we made an article about how butthurt we are about it".

The problem is, it isn't hurting Turks far away. And you can laugh it away.

But thanks to the number disparity, these Hindutva folks projecting their inferiority complex in shape of agression against subcontinent's Muslim/specifically Indian Muslims who are pretty much helpless in the current state.

Turkic populations of both India, Pakistan and Bangladesh have all but melted away into the population.

I dont deny the Turks conquering even some atrocities being committed. No empire is innocent. Even before the Turkic invasions all the Indian Kingdoms were all busy fighting each other. Marathas before turning against the Mughal Empire were fighting for them.

There is no link as us Turks of Turkiye are descended from Oghuz Turks who conquered Anatolia. Turks who conquered India, Pakistan, Bangladesh all came from Central Asian stock like the Karluks and Kipchaks along with Turco Mongols. Then again you also had Persians and Afghans among them.

Turkmenistan is also Oghuz but a lot of the Oghuz Turks from Turkiye and Azerbaijan all trace to Turkmenistan.

The person who wrote the article forgets how India, Pakistan and Bangladesh supported the Turkish independance war. In particular Mahatma Ghandi supported the Turkish cause.

Its just a nice black and white article.

More like sneaking into problems that aren't your own and destroying your own good image and expecting to be not treated as an enemy. If we were siding with Greeks on some dispute and were blabbering about it in every UN stage without provocation I am pretty sure you would be pissed at us and would be writing shit articles about us.

Intellectual honesty is not dependent on geopolitical competition.

I wonder where that intellectual honesty is when it comes to Baluchistan and Haseena's dictator ship in Bangladesh

???

Didn't understand your comparison.

I am saying, just because you have geopolitical competition with someone, doesn't mean you have to be/should be inllectually dishonest. The article above is not intellectually honest IMO.

The article is very superficial and is frankly opportunistic in nature. The author may not even know that long before the Turks (2300 years ago), the same Greeks, led by Iskander (Alexander), occupied northern India. He is a lawyer, not a historian. He most likely doesn't know that after 10 years of extremely successful wars, my great namesake :)
for the first time received a worthy rebuff from the Indian general Porus.

Its not right and no they are not "pretty much helpless". Their situation is far better than minorities in developing Asia to begin with.

It all pales in comparison to the inferiority complex shown in 1971 by particular country in actual genocidal way to entire half of its country.

Till there is actual recognition by the larger Muslim world, Turkic or not....on who commited that genocide and who stopped it, these nibbles around the actual matter of the issue are non-credible.

There is even article in this forum of Pakistan general complaining that Turkiye gave ZERO help when he went there hat in hand.

I can post it here again. Those tears are far more saltier and recent than anything hundreds of years ago needing more foggy mental visualisation and bias.

This root shamelessness btw is the main reason dozens and scores of PDF members kept spamming for a full year (and still continue where they can) at PDF for Indian army "intervention" to teach Pak mil establishment a lesson again.

They wished that much ill on their army....and sympathy grew for Bengalis of 1971 as well.

Because their political favourite got shoved aside by same establishment that nurtured and selected him.

What complex shall we call this one?
