Most of the Turkish Cypriots are like this.

They see the mainland as backwards and illiterate while Cyprus is "enlightened"

They forget all their ancestors come from the mainland.

Just their disgusting form of racism no different to the Central Asian Turks who are racist against Turkiye and Azerbaijan.

Lets not forget how the Uzbeks and their disgusting racism led to a pogrom of Ahsika Turks.

He has the nerve to laugh 🤬

Its true a fact we are racist among ourselves.

If a natural disaster cant humble us. I dont know what to say artik.

Why add fuel to the fire? Turkic unity has significantly increased in the past few decades, especially due to the rise of the internet... Forget about these old wounds.

Think of Turks from Northern Cyprus as Tasmanians. A Tasmanian can't be racist to Mainland Australians... But if Australia sent all its refugees and criminals to Tasmania, I'm sure that Tasmanians would get mad at mainlanders... That is exactly what's happening in KKTC.

Sure, there are some pro-EU traitors. But don't forget that for decades KKTC was considered a nationalist stronghold... But for the past 10 or so years KKTC has been filling up with people from the mainland, the problem is that a lot of these have been non-Turks including Syrians and Afghans, PKK supporters, criminals and Islamist extremists. Last time I went there entire neighbourhoods didn't have a single Turk in them. There are Tarikats which have "training grounds" in the mountains. Crime rate has significantly increased..

Turks of the North still love TSK and a lot of things about the mainland, but it's easy to see why they think the way they do.

Turkiye is cursed with idiots, idiot politicians, idiot majors, idiot constructors, idiot people who accept those crap housings without letting their houses checked by independent instances to sue to constructors

Too many idiots
Not really
Many ppl in Turkey actually bribe the independent investigators in order to get the cost down

The main problem isnt in the law; in fact, the govt has already applied laws that are similar to that of US and Japan in terms of fairness; i-e, all buildings must be checked by a third party before delivery. The problem is in the ppl overseeing the laws, the constructors who are greedy, the independent third parties who are bribed and the idiot ppl who are trying to reduce costs on the expense of their own lives

I think this will lead to a revolution in housing.

Get rid of apartments and skyscrapers.

Embrace single storey houses.
You cant
Turkey doesnt have enough land space to house 85 million ppl in single storey houses
Sadly, skyscrapers are a must

Suburban sprawl would be a problem though. I think apartments are fine as long as they're built properly. We saw how some company's apartments survived perfectly.

Turkiye is big enough to house everyone in single store houses, but lacks the regulations and people who can afford it

News from ground:
I have just been told that military is guarding streets now. In our street alone there are 10 soldiers fully armed, that are keeping guard up and down the street.
I hope that is the case with all other cities.

Storeys should be limited. Anything thats high is already a potential killer.

Ridiculous how mix of buildings there is Turkiye you have good ones built and you have old ones while at the same time many paper built buildings that would collapse with 1 shake.

30,000 casualties in Turkiye while in Syria its 5000.

I dont know what to say. I was a young kid when the 1999 Earthquake happened eventhough I was in Australia ill never forget my Grandfather on phone for hours calling family and friends.

This natural disaster and the footage fcked me up just like 2004 Tsunami and the 2011 Tsunami in Japan.

Seeing footages of the destruction is terrifying.

I cannot imagine the ptsd the survivors and the rescue teams will go through. Its chilling and terrifying.

Yes will be great but they cost too much and needs too much land .
USA have that kind of housing . I prefer 1 million times private House 1/2 storey than apartaments, they make me depressed . not only for safety but of confort aslo . Apartaments for me are like prison .
Any news about how many buildings have been destroyed and how many building are heavy destroyed and need to be demolished and other moderate demaged that needs to be repared and how much will cost all of rebuilding ? And for how many years ? Alot of answeres waiting ...

TOKI really turned out to be an effective and fully functional governmental institution
All of TOKI-built houses didnt even get a scratch during the recent earthquake

Translation:
Houses built by
@Toki_Kurumsal
in Kahramanmaraş, Elbistan and planned to be delivered at the end of February, stand tall despite the disaster of the century.

Taiwanese team has withdrawn from Adiyanan amid tensions with AFAD officials who took over the rescue operation in final ( to apply medical assistance mainly ) but turned it into a show than a cooperation ( taking Taiwanese away from the site ) and seized the credits..

Taiwanese left their equipment (all) behind just in case it may be needed, they are not angry but upset.

Congrats to AFAD for great efforts in coordination, cooperation and planning.

Maybe a conspiracy, but Israel's Yinnon-plan from 1984 to 'cleanse' everyone between the Nile and Euphrates just came closer with this earthquake.
