If we were to actually have an independent space program we first must be able to track as small as possible debris in orbit. Which can be devastating at those extreme speeds.

Space debris greater than 10 centimeters can effectively be tracked using ground radar (US Space force is now working on tracking smaller baseball sized objects) , with collision avoidance alerts going out to spacecraft operators to adjust their assets’ orbits accordingly. But small debris is an unaddressed and growing threat. Alarmingly, while estimates suggest that more than 100 MILLION objects greater than a millimeter in size are whizzing around Earth, less than 1 PERCENT of this dangerous debris is currently being tracked.

exaclty what i was thinking of.
View attachment 66039

what do you guys think about this solution, cheap, 7/24 search and track, attach it to the ground station, connect this to network and game over.
If it flies high enough, its feasible.

The balloon that got shot down by the F-22 was on the edge of the F-22's reach.

75-80k-ish ft should do.

AMRAAM can go up to 100000 feets. (Besides, the whole thing is silly)

Yes, yes. I understand that. I am asking, what if some targets are so close to each other (in a tight formation) that they can be tracked within the scope of a single illumination beam out of 10 beams? (Given CFAKR can create 10 beams simultaneously) and thus be engaged.

In this way, CFAKR will be able to engage more than 10 targets simultaneously, no?
Remember me on an Israeli manoeuvre, where some F-16 flown in a close formation, that enemy radar thought, that was a single passenger plane.

With modern radars it's not gonna work.

And now you are a radar expert, wow.
I have at least acquired a second class marine radio electronic operator license at some point in my life and was in the communications company for a month for my army service.

What is your point, why is a jumbo jet size target at 400 km a hard to find target for a radar?

This literally has nothing to do with how radar works.

What is your point, why is a jumbo jet size target at 400 km a hard to find target for a radar?
My point is how you call a work too easy as if knowing every in and out.

Just by following a few threads on this forum one can learn how objects not categorized as stealth and is bigger than a few meters will shine like bulb on a radar. Stop underestimating forum members.

communications company also known as signal

You better stop underestimating other people's work, especially the ones who have been writing filter algorithms for the radar, for years. They are not doing it like " oh anyway this is signal too let's try detecting ISS, wooow bro it works, naah too easy" . There has been plenty of work involved to do that. So definitely " not too easy " as you might say.

Isn't 10 guidance beam a bit low for a such large X band AESA FCR? I mean, even SAMP/T's old Arabel PESA radar could engage 16 target simultaneously.
Arabel can engage 10 targets simulteneusly so same as CFAKR.However, the newer Ground fire used in SAMP/T-NG can do 16 maybe more. This can be solved by using two CFAKR per battery.Outperforming Euro/Israeli/USA systems on your first go is not easy. This is a good system and there is plenty of time for improvement I believe.

However, I'm curious to know how does it compares with Barak-8?

You are right, Arabel can engage 10 targets while new SAMP/T NG can engage 16 target simultaneously. I think BARAK-8 complex has also similar engagement capacity.

Hi, I was also at that MEBS school for 4 months. And you are right, it is not some huge accomplishment to see ISS on a radar. You can not only see the international space station with a small telescope as an individual person you can even talk to them with a small antenna.

I knew Morse code, I had a license but all is lost after many years.
Yet in the case of an apocalyptic world it may all come back.
