ASELSAN has made the Göker 35 millimeter Multi-Purpose Weapon System, developed for air and land defense missions, ready for duty.

According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent, ASELSAN develops weapon systems that can be used on land and sea platforms with its unique system design and integration approach. Taking into account the demands of the security forces and the changing threats, the company adds new ones to its existing products.

ASELSAN conducted shooting tests with Göker, which it has been working on for a while. Operational tests and capability demonstration firings of the Göker 35 millimeter Multi-Purpose Weapon System, carried out with ASELSAN's own resources, were completed at the Ministry of National Defense's Karapınar Shooting Range.

@Combat-Master the dream is coming true. I somehow sense we will see the naval version earlier than we expect in operation.

Do you know what are main difference between Gokdeniz and Goker apart from one with double barrel and another one single.
I assume Goker is more compact and better suited for smaller vessels.

But hence it is a single barrel .. the rate of fire will significantly decreased

Gökdeniz is a CIWS while Göker is a multi-purpose gun. Göker will be mostly used against ground targets and UAVs. This doesn't mean it can't intercept missiles at all but it is not a CIWS. The missile interception capability will be halved due to decreased rate of fire and further complications will arise when there is no radar input. Göker doesn't have its own radar it only has electro-optical targeting capability so it is dependent on external input for radar data that might not be available everywhere and when it is available most of the time the radar data will come from smaller anti-UAV radars that are optimized against UAVs. Gökdeniz has its own search and fire control radar and can also get data from ship sensors that will be available all the time.

GaN era is officially started for the Turkish Armed Forces. EIRS, AIR, SIPER FCR and Akıncı/F-16 airborne radar will follow this.

Our old Hensoldt Cobra (COunter Battery RAdar) radars in our inventory have a 40km detection range, Aselsan STR has a 100km range that is a whopping %150 increase over 40km.

Is there is a reliable source that str radar is GaN based ?

BTW Aselsan STR can be the main sensor of an Iron Dome equivalent system. I think we will see MKE CIWS(C-RAM), Turkish Iron Dome, Göker multi-purpose weapon system, and Metaksan Nazar all hooked up to a base defense network in the future.

Development of STR actually. Guiding an effector requires further abilities.

Hisar-A+ project is canceled and it is merged with the Hisar-O+ project. A low amount of Hisar-A+ systems are delivered and the project is stopped. Sungur and Sungur+ will replace Hisar-A+ mobile systems. Sungur/Sungur+ will be used from very mobile wheeled armored vehicles. Sungur+ will also be used in the naval Levent CIWS system. Hisar-A+ missiles will still be produced for Hisar-O+ systems. Hisar-O+ system will be able to launch Hisar-A+, Hisar-O+, and Hisar-RF missiles.

There are various reasons for the cancellation of the Hisar-A+ project.
1) Outstanding performance of Sungur and expected outstanding performance of Sungur+ missiles.
2) Hisar-A+ system is cumbersome Sungur system is highly mobile. (Robotic launcher arms and tracked armored vehicle vs turret and wheeled armored vehicle)
3) Hisar-A+ is expensive compared to Sungur/Sungur+. Both missile and the platform are more expensive.
4) Production and logistics of the Hisar-A+ missile are similar to the Hisar-O+ missile. The hisar-A+ missile can also do interceptions up to 25km range at low altitude (under 5km altitude) flight envelopes (Still advertised as a 15km range missile because Pk is 0.99 against a fast target at 8km altitude 15km or lower range). Hisar-O+ system platform is more suited for the Hisar-A+ missile.

Sungur+ can't be used by a single soldier. Performance requirement is 5km altitude 15km range. (Sungur 4+km altitude, 8km range)

So the new architecture
Very short-range/Short range/ low altitude
These missiles will be launched from the Sungur launch platform.
Sungur ------> 4+km altitude 8km range
Sungur+ ----> 5km altitude 15km range (requirement)

Short Range/ Medium Range/ Mid altitude
These missiles will be launched from the Hisar-O+ platform.
Hisar-A+ 8km altitude 15km range (Pk is 0.99 for fast targets at given range and altitude, up to 25km interception capability at lower altitudes)
Hisar-O+ 10km altitude 25km range (Pk is 0.99 for fast targets at given range and altitude, up to 40km interception capability at lower altitudes)
Hisar-RF 10km altitude 30+km range

One of the reason for the cancellation of Hisar-A is the cancellation of Korkut companion system which lose amphibious ability due to increased weight that was the requirement at the beginning.
May be Sungur+ will do what is wanted.

Korkut is amphibious. This was never designed nor planned as an amphibious vehicle. And I doubt BMC tactical armored vehicle which will carry Sungur is amphibious but another amphibious vehicle can be selected from one of our armored vehicle producers.

FNSS ZPTP with Korkut Mounted on top is definitely amphibious.

Why not just use a smaller and lighter amphibious platform which also happens to be known as a "Weapons Carrier Vehicle"

Something like this

> 12 Tons Light
> Amphibious
> Serial Production ongoing

Because of BMC :). We have to wait for BMC to turn one of their armored vehicles into an amphibious vehicle. Both FNSS and Otokar have amphibious vehicles that might carry the Sungur turret.
