@Combat-Master , @Cabatli_53 there used to be a photo of Gurcan Okumus with objects covered under lid on the background.
It was from awhile ago i have been searching for that but i couldn't find. Looks like Siper's techonology development model was completed back then and they are nearing completion of the prototype.

i thought about this too yesterday and even looked at this photo for a long time..

What I see is the US Standard SAM (with booster) like shape in the 1st picture and French MdCN cruise miisle like shape in the 2nd & 3rd ones which were under the blue covers.

can someone redpill me about Turkish involvement in Aster missile program?

No involvement per se, just an on and off program for the last 5-6 years. Never got to project phase because of politics (France vs. Turkey) but now again on the agenda. Not a lot is known, some reports say co production, some co-development.



Turkey has of course since then developed and realized short and medium range air defence products and is working on long range, so I dont know how that fits in and which holes in our air defence its going to cover. Some argue its no longer needed, but obviously we do if we are still insisting in the project 5 years later.

Well we still need time to develop anti balistic missile. Samp-t will fit perfectly in that area. It will give us a breathing room so we won't need to rush development of Siper and alocate our resources in a much better way.(also we can add them to our ait defence network).

Fleet Structure of SİPER Air Defense System Announced​

The fleet structure of the SİPER Long-Range Regional Air and Missile Defense System has been announced. The SIPER System will have advanced radar systems.
ASELSAN shared information about the fleet structure of the National Long-Range Region Air and Missile Defense System SİPER. Search Radar and Fire Control Radar, developed with national resources, will be used in the SİPER System.

For the National Long Range Regional Air and Missile Defense System needed by the Air Force Command, the Presidency of Defense Industry Presidency and the ASELSAN-ROKETSAN-TÜBİTAK SAGE Business Partnership on 15 January 2018 of the Long Range Regional Air and Missile Defense System Project Phase-C (SIPER) contract was signed.

As the progress of the SİPER Project continues, new details about the system are emerging. Finally, ASELSAN shared a comprehensive information about the SİPER System. According to the information shared by ASELSAN, in the fleet of the SİPER System;

  • Fleet Control Center
  • Fire Control Center (AKM)
  • Fire Control Radar (AKR)
  • Search Radar (AR)
  • Missile Launch / Missile Transport Loading System (FFS/FTYS)
  • Full Throw Missiles
  • Communication Station Vehicle (HIA)
  • Communication Relay Tool (HRA)
  • Maintenance Repair Tool
  • Classroom Training Simulators components will be available.
SİPER Long-Range Region Air and Missile Defense System provides long-range air defense of strategic facilities against enemy attacks, and has distributed architecture, close and distant deployment capabilities, multiple engagement and sequential firing, ability to work in harsh weather conditions, land, air, sea and rail. It will have the capability of relocation, multi-tactical data link and upper command control integration, connection with Radar Network Management System (RADNET) and Air Force Information System (HvBS).

Features of the SİPER Blok-I Air Defense Missile​

The firing tests of the SİPER Block-I, the first missile to be used in the SİPER System, were carried out recently.

The test-fired missile is the SİPER Block-I Missile, which was developed over the HİSAR-RF Missile. The SİPER Block-I Air Defense Missile, which is estimated to have a range of 70+ kilometers, was developed over the HİSAR-RF missile. Just like the HİSAR-A+ and HİSAR-O+ Missiles, the SİPER Block-I Air Defense Missile, which has a double-pulse engine, has a detachable launch engine, that is, a booster. Thus, the range of the radar-guided medium-range air defense missile (HİSAR-RF) has been increased more than twice.

Is it known how many Hisar-O and Siper batteries are going to be taken into inventory? I remember in the original air defense purchase studies done a couple of decades ago, it was said at least 8-10 batteries would be needed for the long-range system. I guess the numbers will be in the tens now for both Hisar and Siper.

Can anyone explain why there are 3 tubes per TEL? 1 battery composed of 3 TEL and 9 missiles total. Didn't like the idea

It was 6 missiles per TEL before..
it is better to not put so many missile in one place. When they are hit by enemy you LOSS all of them.
Better efficiency is small enough quantity splited to more vehicles which are spread around the area

When we think about saturation attacks of cruise missiles, these batteries will need to fire tens of hisar within minutes maybe. I agree that an optimum should be determined. But 9 missiles per battery, it's very few in future war theatre where cruise missiles, anti radiation missiles , spice/sdb like bombs and kamikaze uavs/drones will be used in large numbers and even in swarm formations. We should either increase the number of TELs in a battery or number of launchers in each TEL. 9 missiles ready to fire in a single battery, I havent ever seen such an architecture in any army.
I hope these numbers have nothing to do with the weight of hisar o+..and don't assume so..

I agree. Better to have too much missiles in one vehicle than not enough. Especially with saturation / swarm attacks.
