I would teach every kid a custom curriculum customized for their aspirations and likely walk of life. Leaving them to their own means is a waste of resources. Kids are fewer than they were before. We need to make better use of their brains when brains is still needed or we will lose the battle when brains is not needed anymore when machine thinking takes over.

Assistant General Manager of R & D Management, Director of the Research Center Mustafa Ayazoglu won first place in the Mobile AI 2021 competition, one of the world's most respected competitions, with the artificial intelligence model he developed for “real-time Resolution Enhancement suitable for mobile platforms”. Dr. With this work, Ayazoğlu outperformed many competing teams in the world. “Extremely Lightweight Quantization Robust Real-time Single-Image Super Resolution for Mobile Devices”, written by our staff, is eligible to be published in CVPR 2021 / Mobile AI 2021. This success will contribute to Aselsan's awareness by making a difference in artificial intelligence and machine learning in the international arena.

The Mobile AI 2021 competition, which is considered the most important computerized vision and pattern processing conference in the world, is sponsored by many important companies such as Samsung Huawei, Oppo, MediaTek, Synaptics, Raspberry Pi.

The model developed for the competition; 640 x 360 Color Image, mobile processor (Synaptics Dolphin NPU) ~44ms, 3 times magnifying the 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution image (Pictures, the result is shown as XLSR). This model, which is also planned to be developed and used in ASELSAN products, improves resolution by up to 2dB compared to standard methods and increases video resolution at 22 fps.

AI boosts efficiency at ASELSAN

Artificial intelligence applications implemented at ASELSAN over the past year have resulted in 650,000 hours of labor savings 5% improvement in its productivity ratio and an estimated $35 million increase in efficiency over the last year. At the AI Tomorrow Summit 2025, organized by the Artificial Intelligence Policy Association, ASELSAN President & CEO Ahmet Akyol highlighted the company’s significant gains from AI integration and its strategic importance for the future.

In addition to transforming products, AI has driven changes in ASELSAN’s internal workflows. To oversee this shift, the company launched the “aselsaneXt” program in 2024, which introduced AI specialists across seven key operational areas, with further expansions planned. ASELSAN’s AI applications extend to critical sectors including electronic warfare systems, sonar, air defense, unmanned surface vehicles, electro-optics, and guidance technologies.

With a 50-year legacy in defence technologies, ASELSAN incorporated AI design as a core component of its research and development efforts. The company continues to leverage artificial intelligence to strengthen both its innovation capacity and Türkiye’s technological independence.
