Don't be surprised if TS-1400 comes to Atak Faz-3. There are studies but the schedule is really hard. We will see. I'm cautiously optimistic.

So from what I have gather in the open it looks like FAZ-3 for T-129 will be a pretty substanial upgrade in the end.

Upgrade of the EO from Aselflir-300T to Aselflir-400/410 (Confirmed)
Addition of Fire Location Detection System SEDA (Confirmed)
Addition of a Large Area Display (Confirmed)
Avci-2 Helmet (largely confirmed years ago)
MUM-T capability (Confirmed by TAI)
Integration of new missiles (well duh)

Upgrade of EW-Suit (likely?)
MMW-Radar (Unlikely due to weight restrictions on the fuselage?)

@Cabatli_TR Did I miss anything?
Does it mean Atak will never get MMW radar?

whats that config useful for?
A millimeter wave radar is essentially an Extremely High-Frequency synthetic aperture radar (which is typically used to ‘map’ a picture of the ground). Millimetric wave radars for helicopters, such as the AH-64D Longbow, are used for target tracking and engagement, especially for moving vehicles such as tanks.

Functionally, a millimeter wave radar can be used against ground targets in the same manner as an airborne radar can be used against aerial targets. For example, the MİLDAR could identify and track targets on land. If equipped with millimeter wave radar-tipped air-to-ground missiles, the T-129 can engage those targets.

A Mildar, fitted to a T-129, can be utilised by other T-129s flying in formation. So although a pylon is taken by this radar on one helicopter, it allows other T-129s to use the radar.

But the Mildar, although passed acceptance tests, haven’t since been fitted on to any T-129s for active duty.

It may find a place on T-629. But should be part of T-929.
It has a class leading very long range capability. And will make the helicopter a more formidable fighting machine.
Meteksan since was able to miniaturise the huge saucepan looking radar unit to fit under belly or above rotor as shown below.

Meteksan since has come up with a SAR/GMTI (Moving Target Indicator) radar for the UAVs that gives the UAVs exceptional capabilities for tracking and targeting. Aksungur have been fitted with it under it’s belly and is now operating it.

The first of the TS1400 turboshaft engine, produced for Gökbey within the scope of mass production, has been completed. It will be delivered to TAI after being tested until February.

The rate of fire is a bit confusing.

Is the rate of fire as high as 1,300 SPM? On what condition?
I assume platform dependent. For swiveling chin-mount such as on an Attack Heli, I assume 230 SPM is the maximum allowed but for a fighter plane, the higher rate of fire along with the higher recoil is acceptable.

p.s. AEI was recently acquired by SAMSUN aka Canik so this weapon is now Turkish.
