Fully French loadout maybe except for the 76mm. Seems they are the winners no matter who comes up on top for LMS Batch 2.
This is the issue. Most navies when purchasing new platforms will seek to have weapon and sensor commonality with their existing platforms. This gives a significant unfair competitive advantage to countries which have been in the business for a long time.

Turkiye needs to somehow break the chain. One way could be to give a massive discount on ATMACA, HISAR etc. on the first sale. Then later on the customer would be more inclined to buy form you again at full price (due to weapon and sensor commonality preferences).

can't blame them, Hisar D is not fully operational in our navy, and atmaca's just starting.

Other customers are willingly receiving Atmaca and Turkish sensors, Malaysia had put specific brands in the bidding documents. Pakistan have got Albatros NG, Ukraine has got VL MICA and both ships are also equipped with Turkish systems in extend. Looks like it is not the issue here.

Greater baykar effect on the industry. Aselsan will get bigger. Not great for meteksan. Hopefully Sage survives.
Not a great fan of this. Hope I’m wrong.

I don't know if he will remain connected to Aselsan, because Aselsan will have a new president. Now he has to think in general...

Good news. At least, Someone from the industry will lead the industry. Ismail Demir has been in duty for 9 years.
I don't think the other companies will be effected in negative way. It will boost everyone.

That's what came to my mind immediately too, but might they sanction him too? Isn't entire SSB sanctioned
These US sanctions apply to the job position not the individual themselves. Demir was sanctioned as president of the agency and Haluk will be the same.

Yeah, There is a misinterpreting here. Individuals are not sanctioned but positions.

The Caatsa paper clearly states asset freeze and visa restrictions on individuals as well as the position they hold in the last sentence of first paragraph. Yes. The sanctions are there for the position too, as stated in the first sentence of the same paragraph. But people are sanctioned too. Albeit due to their position within the company.

quote:

Today, the United States is imposing sanctions on the Republic of Turkey’s Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) pursuant to Section 231 of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) for knowingly engaging in a significant transaction with Rosoboronexport, Russia’s main arms export entity, by procuring the S-400 surface-to-air missile system. The sanctions include a ban on all U.S. export licenses and authorizations to SSB and an asset freeze and visa restrictions on Dr. Ismail Demir, SSB’s president, and other SSB officers.

unquote.

And a possible FAC 46 sale under their “light frigate” program as per Jake. Great news!

The Nigerian Navy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dearsan Shipyard, for the modernization of its flagship NNS ARADU (F98).

MEKO 360H1 is the oldest MEKO frigate in active service, in fact, the first MEKO built. If Nigeria plans to keep this ship in active service for more than 10 years, I think we should consider modernizing and selling Yavuz class frigates through Dearsan after similar modernization package.
