Reports about the possible purchase of older models of wheeled armored personnel carriers from Turkey are an idea that can hardly be called anything other than strategic stupidity. For some time now, I have been calling for cooperation with the Turkish defense industry, which has great potential – joint work on a new generation of APCs using Turkish solutions, including our ZSSW-30 turret, a potential opportunity for the development of domestic production and many other possibilities.

But buying obsolete designs "off the shelf", when Poland produces Rosomak and domestic plants have the competence to develop modernized versions, is an action that goes beyond the concept of rationality. This is either a deliberate weakening of the domestic industry or pure stupidity (or sabotage). The army needs modernization, not another contract for off-the-shelf equipment without any reflection. Cooperation – yes. Thoughtless import – no.

"ADVENT Combat Management System, the deterrent force of the Turkish Navy, has now been exported to Chile, bringing the total number of countries using ADVENT worldwide to nine. "

They will probably use it for the modernization of their two Adelaide Class frigates based on OHP.

Correction. Deal is not for the Adelaides but the M Class ships, which are 2 ex Dutch Karel Doorman Class frigates they got in 2005. It's unclear if any other Turkish subsystem will be a part of the modernization work for the two ships.

Portugal also got 2 ex Dutch ships in the same time period, and might be another potential user.
