I swear
I was reading good news for the last few days, from Erdo's stable foreign policy in Ukraine-Russia war, to LHD Anadolu, Kizilelma, and finally mass production of the long-awaited Altay tank
And yet, Erdo drops this bombshell ffs! Why on bloody earth is he decreasing the interest rates? The interest rates at 13% was already quite low ffs

I do know that high interest rates will just screw Turkey even more but why on earth is he fqing lowering it further? Does he not realise that this will just increase the depreciation pressure on the lira? This is insanity! The best he could do was to just keep it at bloody fqing 13%!!

For the first time in 9 years, Turkish unemployment rate falls back to 9.6%. The last time such figure recorded was in March 2013
And for the first time it drops to single digits since 2018; i-e, 4 years
It seems that Ppl are being employed like crazy

This economic crisis is very different, right now there is a shortage on laborers in europe too, changing job was never easier.

Of course, there is no problem for the government, it is the people who suffer and are disgraced.

If you say that this will bear fruit in the future, I would say look at they 20-year performance and whether they can do it or not.

I mean, government's forcing the people for nothing, I don't think anything will happen.

In addition, instead of lowering the interest rates by 1 point, it can directly reach the desired number. At least you experience the pain in one go.

One thing I've learned a long time ago is never believe any "memorandum of understanding" you see.

Its to keep bureaucrats busy with some paper pushing at best by default.

Its always best wait for cold hard proof of the goodies and use natural 20/20 hindsight vision for analysis afterwards.

I tend to call that phenomenon MOU conversion/realised rate lol.

If its more than 10% (I remember churning lot of data for this in my earlier economics research phase), you have done better than the global average. Lot of the MOU stuff flatline at 0%.

The details of that realisation also matter, it should be actual investment (risk fronted by the investor) rather than loan based (risk fronted by you and that's just BS in end as you could almost always do much better on world loan market).

The channel might have ultra left leanings but the experts speaking in the video, including an international banker who was operating since 2001 in Turkish market, are saying something, please listen to them.
The situation is grim, the damage being done today is way more fundamental and long lasting than anything that happened in 2001, the damages done to judiciary and demography wont be solved in the next couple decades. This crisis is not only economic and will burden the country long after Party X or Y left the office.
The limbo will continue until the election, after that we will see whether damage control will start or not but one thing is certain, very painful time is ahead for Turkey.
