They should push for Turkmen autonomy. An autonomous zone between Syria and the KRG.

We also need economic might and more importantly, leverage. Only focusing on military might is suicidal. That is the way of North Korea.

Only realistic way forward is beig indispensible and we have to be indispensible in every way possible. Geography does half the job, but other half is still very hard.

Realistic targets;

• Second best military
• Being an absolutely integral part of global economy
• Autarky when it comes to things that matter (MIC, energy, food, fuel, aerospace/software/heavy industry)
• Large influence network with a multitude of developing countries
• Better soft power vis-a-vis said developing countries
• Organized diaspora

If we achieve that, our 'relatively small' infractions will only get tantrums and not real response.

It occurred as a result of Iran wanting to gain ground in Iraq and our refusal to support the autonomous government against this.

I don't even know what the thought process was, but when the Barzani oil was flowing we made a lot of money from the fees.

Now we make no money and risk losing a pipeline when Iraq looks for alternatives to export that oil. Not to mention the number of refugees coming if north of Iraq collapses economically. A huge win for Iran and the PKK.

The pressure on Europe also helps Russia, the rising oil prices will also affect us a lot because of how much we import oil.

Iraqi Basij is an Iranian-controlled paramilitary.

Republic of Turkiye is no Ottoman Empire of the 1800s. Then again they just proved our point how the Ottomans in the 1800s by the way in a really crappy state was beating the Greek Independance war until the West had to bail them out.

We live in different times plus with new technology.

I doubt they will able to wipe out our army or our navy like the last time.

Iraq is even more cumbersome than Syria on the ground. Let's watch for a few days first. KDP buffer is fine and dandy but either we pull the non Iranian aligned Shias to us as well(or to be more neutral) or keep doing this back and forth for another decade.

Im talking about the Battle of Navarino where the British, French and the Russians wiped out our navy.

French had designs on Ottoman lands just like the British and the Russians. In the 1800s they took Algeria and Tunisia.
