This is USS America. It is a Kitty Hawk class vessel. Last of its kind conventionally powered 84000 ton super carrier. Launched in 1964 and decommissioned in 1996. Sunk in 2005.
It took US airforce over 25 days of heavy bombing to sink her. How it was sunk and what took it to be sunk is classified. Even then the superstructure was still afloat albeit mostly submerged.
That is the quality of engineering that goes in to building these super carriers. They are built in such modular formation that flooding a chamber is not enough to cause cascade flooding to get the ship to sink. The newer ships are built with experience gained in the sinking of USS America.

As well as carrying numerous defensive weapons on board like ASW helicopters, Sonars, CWIS and ESSM air defence missiles, a super carrier is accompanied by around 10 ships that form the strike group which are responsible for protecting the carrier. These include destroyers frigates and nuclear submarines, with SAMs of the most modern types that are effective for any threat the strike group may encounter.

Anything less than a nuclear strike, is not going to have much effect to make a dent in this armour.
There are 11 strike groups like this in the US Navy. With a further 5 shown as retired. But most probably, to be ready in the event of an emergency, for active duty. (USS JF Kennedy being readied for joining the naval forces in 2025. )

Anyone thinking that they can take on such a fighting power head on and win, with current technology is having a pipe dream. There will be chinks in its armour that could be exploited. But it is not an easy task to accomplish by any account.

Fahrettin is extremely effective at his job of creating delusions lol

If a handful of anti ship cruise missiles did end up hitting it, that could disable the facilities needed for planes to take off and land and force the ship to get back for repairs. You don't need to sink it. And if you manage to hit propulsion system with a torpedo, it will have to be towed.

Thank you for this detailed post! This serve as a lesson to those who think sinking an aircraft carrier of this size and quality is a piece of cake.

The aircraft carrier is a beast on itself. Now taking in account the whole strike group operating together this is even worst. We must take some lessons and understand why navies who operate aircraft carriers are thought to be elite navies. Thinking of how much money and expertise is needed in designing, constructing and operating such beasts is just mind blowing. I hope one day Turkiye also reaches this level to be part of this elite entity, projecting its power in the seas.

Well, multiple AEGIS ship carries hundreds of interceptors (with different ranges and altitudes) and each can simultaneously guide dozens of them. That of course, if you can get close enough to launch some missiles to begin with. However, Carrier's air wing supported by AEWCS and growler will prevent your aircrafts and ships from getting into AShM release points. (So you have to fight your way through carrier's air wing.)

Also, SSK cannot keep up with nuclear powered carrier's speed. Even with a SSK that is equipped with latest lithium ion batteries, if you try to cruise at 20 knots continuously, you wont last more than 36 hours. (instead of three weeks)
To effectively threaten a carrier, you need at least one (preferably two) ultra modern SSN (like Astute, Virginia, Seawolf, or Suffren) which can cruise at 20 knots without the limitation of running out charge.
That is actually the most realistic way for a smaller navy to partially deter/deny US naval supremacy. By the very nature of subsurface warfare, a quite and modern SSN gives you an asymmetric advantage that you cannot obtain otherwise.

Building and operating one carrier strike group for one year is $28 billion dollars, more than TR military budget in a year. America has 9 of these.
I actually still share the opinion that the US is unmatched militarily, mainly due to America's absolutely insane mastery of logistics but aircraft carriers are not a good example. Even US military officials are expressing the opinion that spending money on them is a waste of time and they are just big targets nowadays.

No such thing exists, it’s vapor wave. They tried to fool people with a hand held taser and then just vanished.
Even if dont exist doest mean we cant make it , with nowdays tech Turkiye can make such selicone steath underwater drone smart weapon that warships can drop it and ir can stay inactive and activate it if is neccesary .

I have a gut feeling that project's being worked on by more capable people, on the down low.
Its neither singular to us, nor our first case for those kind of projects to be declared "dead" to the public, only for them to be perfected and operational in secret.

Why do i have a feeling that F-16s are not coming… Congrats to Greeks on their F-35s nonetheless.

That is why going on with the S400 deal was the right one since at the very least it did give the message of "_I_ screw you" from the Turks to the double-standard American

Not to mention they confiscated our F35s.

The West aka the So called Free World is treating Turkiye as a pariah or an enemy just like Russia and China.

They only used us because we were useful against Russia now our use by date has passed now they see Turkiye as an enemy.

Turkiye should try build itself up economically, politically and militarily. Turkish soldiers should never be sacrificed for the EU, USA and Nato.

Turkiye really needs to put a plan in place for its independant destiny. Its the only way to go.
