To many it might have seemed like Germany finally came to their senses, realized the security needs of contemporary geopolitics and taking a position to seek for a new security structure for Europe.
Not for me.

The reality:
The US kicked Europe’s butt, told them they’re on their own, set a fire in their pants.
I wouldn’t want be in a European security structure where Turkey is not an EQUAL partner.
I wouldn’t wanna be in a European security structure where Germany calling the calls, pulling the strings, making decisions and telling Turkey what to do, when to do, where to do to protect their safety.
I wouldn’t want a European security structure where the top dog Germany who harbor, nurture, finance terrorist organizations killing Turkish citizens and financing, supporting tarikat cells in Germany.

The days of lesser partner of NATO who humbly supposed to wait for allies arrival after holding USSR for 48 hours is gone.

However, it won’t go my way. The reality is something else. We’ll agree to their terms in return of some PR concession. That’s it.

Its not in Turkish interests anymore to see a complete defeat of Russia in Ukraine, a complete defeat for Russia would only mean the Europeans start behaving worse to us. Its best the Europeans always have that Russia fear and that fear that Turkiye could side with them one day.

Turkiye is no longer a small nation of 10 million, its big enough to become her own deterrent especially within 10 years or so.

I dont think Russia will be completely defeated. Russia has vast resources, some technological knowhow, nuclear power, China as kind of an ally, and possibility to maintain war economy long time. So Europe will need us sometime. Merz is indeed right that we are in a new geopolitical phase. We should use this to our advantage. In the future a West friendly administration in Russia can change the situation. But by that time we should get stronger as much as possible.

I just wish Turkiye would play a more anglo-american game. Constantly double deal, constantly undermine allies, make money off all nations and look to benefit in every direction. To play that really dirty, sleazy geopolitical game that certain nations always play against Turkiye. Our location actually would allow us to play a real filthy game. And morally I would argue nothing would be more justified then to play such a game against nations who are actively arming terrorists against you with the intent to balkanise your nation.
