PKK, ideologically, is not a zionist group. Öcalan himself called out Israel many times. They are ideologically leftist-communists and they even cooperated with PLO in the past. However, especially in Syria, they developed a pragmatic partnership with the USA&Israel thinking that they could establish a statelet there. Turkish state is aware of this fact and they used Öcalan to take PKK away from the Israeli influence. Hence, their plans collapsed.
The ones that are eager to cooperate with Israel are Kurdish nationalists and they are against the ongoing process. Just check twitter to see the ongoing disputes between Kurdish nationalists, PKK suporters and KDP supporters. Sometimes I feel sad about our people's ignorance about our enemies.
You’re oversimplifying the PKK’s relationship with Israel. Saying “PKK is not Zionist because Öcalan criticised Israel decades ago” ignores how the organisation has actually behaved in practice. Whatever their ideological branding, the PKK has a long record of
pragmatic cooperation with foreign intelligence services, including Israeli ones — a pattern documented by multiple analysts and regional observers. That doesn’t make them ideologically Zionist, but it does show they’ve repeatedly aligned with Israel when it served their strategic goals.
More importantly, look at
current behaviour, not 1980s rhetoric. Today, PKK‑aligned networks in Syria operate inside a U.S.–Israel security umbrella. Their political ecosystem online openly supports Israeli positions, especially since the Syrian conflict reshaped regional alliances. Meanwhile, Kurdish nationalist factions, PKK supporters, and KDP supporters fight daily on social media over who is closer to Israel — which alone shows how deep these ties run.
So no, the PKK isn’t “ideologically Zionist,” but pretending they’re disconnected from Israeli influence is just not accurate. Their followers’ current pro‑Israel stance, their alignment with U.S.–Israel regional strategy, and their long history of intelligence cooperation all contradict the claim you’re making.
But it's alright, they're now AKP Zionist lovers.
