Turkish MoND Mr Hulusi AKAR: "There is a eavesdropping scandal, immigration scandal, corruption in Greece. They have failures in the Eastern Mediterranean. In order to cover all this, they hope to increase tensions with Turkiye.”

No doubts fear mongering over Turks has been good business for the insanely incompetent and corrupt political class in Greece, which is really just 3 corrupt families who change roles every other election. Its the great big distraction that allows them to get away with all the domestic failures.

One of the most indebted and terrible economies on earth, a rapidly aging population as well as a small declining one. But the "Turk" distraction is good for politics.

They are putting all their bets on Greek Airforce, with the new Rafales and F-16V.

Perhaps by increasing their defence budget they can afford to buy some F-35.

It is important for a country to have a balanced and well-rounded military capability in order to effectively defend itself and deter potential adversaries - Greece does not have a well-rounded military capability.

I think their real bet is that the USA will defend them. Hence why they have given so many bases to the USA, its not Russia its for Turkey.

I can see a potential in that, but I would say it would be similar to how UK observed and condemned the operations but didn't getting involved like in Kibris'74.

Politically, Turkey needs to have a sure footing. Greece increasing territorial waters to 12nm would not be enough imo.

Just like the "Greek" distraction works for your politics...to masquerade the inflation, poverty and migration problems.

Greek Defense Minister Panagiotopoulos: “Thanks to the defense and security policies we follow, the balance of military power between Greece and Turkiye has started to change in favor of the Greek side for the first time in a long time.”

What do we think about this claim? Is the balance of power really changing in favor of the Greek side as the Defense Minister said ? Or is this sentence reflection of a dream that Greece on the eve of the election is trying to convince its people so as not to seem helpless?
EPIC!

He is right, only if he counts the US forces based in Greece

The US will never intervene on behalf of Greece. Washington won't ever support one side against the other one because picking a party is contrary to the interests of the US in the wider region.

Who here believes that America is willing to let go of Turkey in favor of tiny Greece, thus, practically creating an alliance between Moscow and Ankara?

Never going to happen.

The US won't pick a side as long as neither one is...

a) attacking US bases
b) attacking the opponent's proper mainland cities
c) committing outrageous acts of crime against humanity

Economic sanctions are the way to go for the Americans as long as the conflict stays contained within the Aegean Sea and Cyprus is not involved.

Do you really think a war between Turkiye and Greece wouldn't involve Cyprus in any capacity?
Absolutely. There's not going to be a spillover effect as long as the illegitimate regime in Southern Cyprus stays neutral.

And why are you whining for the islands' militarization or when an official visits an island then?

He said the common people. Which he is right. More than half the population either doesn’t care or have no clue about the conflict with Greece. Also let’s be real bro.. situation is like my 6 pound white furry Pomeranian puppy barking at a f*cking 60pound pit bull. Just saying 🤷🏻‍♂️

The same goes for us! The majority doesn't care or is not aware of the situation.
