If we look at INS Vikramaditya it has 36 planes on board. One type of them is HalTejas which has GE404 for the engine. It has managed to take off with the help of ski lift in 125 metres. Also has landed on to the same carrier in 87 metres with the help of arresting hook. This plane in size and weight is similar to Hurjet. OK it has a delta wing which would give better lift. But if we can navalise Hurjet and furnish it with a Thrust Vectoring engine of EJ200 (23100lbf) , I don’t see why we could not operate this aircraft from our TCG Anadolu. Vikramaditya has two runways because of the large number of planes it has. Our LHD can accommodate maximum of 12 planes. But realistically 6 to 8. So they can take their turn in landing and take off.

Based on AI-222-25F

60 kN and 113 kN with afterburner
Engine lenght: 4m
Weight: 1060 kg

L15-B uses two AI-222-25F engines with afterburner

Engine like the AI-9500F could be used for Hürjet and other jet aircraft including drones in the future.

These are 9000lbf thrust range engines. You need two of these to power Hurjet. Hurjet’s design has been consolidated to a single engine design. From eastern block only the Klimov RD93 engine (18200lbf) could be a contender.

Hurjet will most likely use GE-F404
This is in a way, bad news! In this case this plane will not be a full CAS orientated craft. But a trainer first and may be a light CAS plane second.
Also being an American engine we will not be able to sell the plane to countries they will not approve of. (Atak t-129 engines to Pakistan, KAI T50 sale to Argentina blocked by UK)
I only hope that , as TEI will be the address for the production line, they will develop a more powerful version of this in house for future.
Mind you! We can go though the same avenue that South Korea went through and with a GE414 engine we can make a real beast of a plane for our own use if we wanted to in the future If the US does not cause any problems.

Gonna guess the UK couldn't promise a smooth delivery of EJ200 engines without Germany crying around as it does every time. Sadly the UK has been selling alot of its industry to the germans. BAE Systems selling its majority stake in its Tank and Armored vehicle division to rheinmetall for a measly 30m pounds is just the newest example.

It was offered to China, AI-9500F is said to produce 9 to 11 ton thrust. Motor Sich said that they "could" make a 15 ton thrust engine based of AI-9500F.

Motor-Sich is the engine manufacturer (sort of our TEI without development arm).
Ivchenko-Progress is the engine designer (similar to what Tr Motor is trying to do)
Since the collapse of Soviets, Motor Sich only produced what was already in their knowledge library. Nothing new has been added.
Ivchenko Progress has not really developed something new either.
They have lost most of their innovative workforce. So really not developing anything!
AI9500F is an engine in only Ivchenko Progress’s new engine development program. No physical engine! And I doubt very much if it will ever materialise either. If you check Motor Sich site you will not find this engine.

quote:
The company also is continuing research on a new engine that builds on the design methods employed in developing the AI-222-25, but this will have a 21,000-pound-thrust rating.
The engine, which is still a design and not yet in prototype development, is the AI-9500F and has been in the design stage for years. Ivchenko describe the engine as being a candidate for a “lightweight tactical fighter” program, but no specific design or customer nation has been designated. The engine would be close to the thrust rating needed by China for its Shenyang FC-31 fighter that appears to be an analog to the Lockheed Martin F-35, but there have been no reports of the Chinese being willing to finance putting the engine into production.

Imagine you do samething with the F16, bs nothing more.

My dream is to evolve Hurjet program to a cost effective medium multi-role fighter aircraft

Such aircraft would take a lot of pressure off Air Force while TFX being developed, later supplement the TFX and even be used by the Navy

I hope (and think) it will be the test-bed of jet-UCAV studies.

In final configuration, Hürjet may have some different dimensional features. I expect to see a Hürjet with a length around 14m. She will be more or less a Gripen or F16 in size.
