India on Thursday rejected the recent elections in PoK which were won by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's party, saying the "cosmetic exercise" was nothing but an attempt by Pakistan to "camouflage its illegal occupation" and that it has lodged a strong protest over the issue.
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi also strongly objected to references made to Jammu and Kashmir in a recent joint press statement by Pakistan and China, asserting that the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh have been and will remain an integral and inalienable part of India.

Reacting strongly on the elections in the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, the spokesperson said Pakistan has "no locus standi on these Indian territories" and it must vacate all Indian areas under its illegal occupation.

"The so-called elections in Indian territory under the illegal occupation of Pakistan are nothing but an attempt by Pakistan to camouflage its illegal occupation and the material changes undertaken by it in these territories," he said at an online media briefing.

His strong assertion came days after Pakistan conducted elections to the legislative Assembly in PoK. The elections were marred by allegations of irregularities and violence.

Asked about the polls, Mr Bagchi said India has lodged a strong protest with the Pakistani authorities on this "cosmetic exercise", which has been protested and rejected by the local people.

"Such an exercise can neither hide the illegal occupation by Pakistan nor the grave human rights violations, exploitation, and denial of freedom to people in these occupied territories," he said.

According to media reports, the ruling party of Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, had won a majority of seats in the assembly elections in PoK.

On the recent China-Pakistan joint press statement which mentioned J&K, Mr Bagchi said, "As in the past, India categorically rejects any reference to J&K. The Union Territory of J&K and the Union Territory of Ladakh has been and will remain an integral and inalienable part of India."

He also objected to the reference to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in the China-Pakistan joint press statement, saying India has consistently conveyed to both China and Pakistan that the so-called CPEC is in India's territory.

"We resolutely oppose any attempts by other countries to change the status quo in areas illegally occupied by Pakistan as also to Pakistan bringing up any material change in Indian territories under its illegal occupation. We call upon parties concerned to cease such actions," he said.

I heard there may be some European or GCC countries counsulates in Srinagar ?

any truth or just rumors ?
@FalconSlayersDFI
Consulates are in major cities - Bombay, Madras, Bangalore, Calcutta, Hyderabad.

Think No. they used to have UN observers mission there but that too is gone post 370 removal .
India had stopped giving the UN Mission any credibility after Shimla Accord. They just sit and Netflix and chill on the Indian side.

I think its best to just keep anything to do with Kashmir from what India defines it as....in this thread.

No need for separate PoK thread....it comes under this ambit.

I think it will be real masterstoke to have some counsulates there covering GB laddak and Jammu and Kashmir
Consulates open for three reasons. If large number of that country's citizens live in that city and its vicinity, if that city is a large source of visa seekers for migration / tourism and if it happens to be a major city in the host country. No place in J&K, Ladakh tick any of these boxes. No country would be remotely interested.

Lets say a lot of Kashmiris go for haj and a saudi counsulate will serve the purpose

Mere survival while losing your territory, self-respect and sucking up to a USA / China / Saudi for money and arms is not resilience. It's a necessity.
Still intact west Pakistan, Continued harassment of India, Afghanistan, US/Nato/ISAF through asymmetric assets, Nuclear proliferation to MTCR violation all of it with utmost impunity. And vis a vis India, continued military incursions as well as massive intel and terror ops in India, with close to zero accountability enforced by India, I'd say they are pretty resilient.

They have killed our citizens and forces, as and when they please, and we haven't done jack shit about it. They are punching above their weight, and we are doing back-channel diplomacy. So yeah, Indian establishment is composed of a bunch of pussies (cats not genitals, well maybe)

The basic power pressure of India w.r.t Pakistan is approaching a ratio of 12X only now. (Things like 3 trillion USD vs 300 billion USD GDP)

For comparison...South Korea has reached one of 50X+ with North Korea.

Their scenario is different (given relative chokepoint of DMZ) but it didnt stop midget submarine raids, tunnels under DMZ (to sneak infiltrators), a number of (one was especially well coordinated by Nork commandos) assasination attempts on the South Korean president (one which saw his wife die, and one which eventually got him too) when the ratio was much less than 50X it is now.

Not going to even bring in Japan (for this disparity ratio) which saw number of its citizens kidnapped/murdered by Nork admin during Cold war.

The apparatus of SoKo, Japan and US all failed in keeping North Korea nuclear-arms free. That needs putting into context....given their combined wealth w.r.t India (esp during critical years of 70s - 80s for India in this matter....having liberated eastern wing, left the psyche intact in the west and simply had no raw economic, intel or statecraft muscle to prevent WMD proliferation to the western wing).

Pakistan is also way more engaged (diaspora in english speaking world and its religion intersection with middle east) with world than North Korea ever has been and can be (in its setup). Maybe 100 times more at least. This augments a lot past the selected most convenient heavy patron of the era.

So I would not judge India too harshly given these raw parameters of what we inherited and had to work with. Of course with hindsight we could have done a lot lot better....but that goes for every country. Everything more or less comes out in the wash if you account for the input and process.

The far bigger grievous error has been the lack of development of quality primary education and education at large (and related primary development fields from the ground up). Since this is what has stopped say a 50X disparity from materialising in first place...and kept it to 12X in our case.

This has created very lopsided development now w.r.t manufacturing (which needs good supply of line management acumen + technical organisation to utilise blue collar worker pool) vis-a-vis services (which was able to worm its way far easier by demand pull of world during India's first half-liberalisation effort....but locks up much more vertically and is far harder to expand population wise per investment).

Just look how atrocious primary and secondary education still is for the bulk of our children....1/3rd of them are stunted as well.

This all determines capacity of buffet options and the cheques to pay for them... and applies the basic power that can be brought to bear on any enemy.

If we haven't gotten that sorted out (the 90%) stuff....focusing on nitpicking the 10% that it shapes above it is waste of time in the end.
