Does building military base on artificial island, sending maritime militia + CG to harass other country can be considered "aggressive"?
Yes & no. This where I say they are being smart, technically its not easy to classify it as invation or some short. That fisherman militia is also part of the plan to intimidate without involving their military. CG arguably can be classify as civilian as well. Looking at those facts I hope our govt are prepare for it by involving expert in international law and geneve convention as precautionary measure. Whatever the case will be, the first one who fire the bullet most likely will take the blame (military stand point). But that wont be the case if "Civilian" shooting at each other (militia perhaps CG as well), hence the below news

Its getting interesting eh? Thats only the surface, the last rumour I have is US trying to station their troops in ASEAN. I have a feeling the lobby/diplomacy already in place from US Sec of Def tour in Singapore, Vietnam & Phillipines. This tour will pave a way for US Vice Pres who plan to visit the region in the next couple of months.

But one thing I know for sure, both US & China dont want the open war to happen, not in a million years. This is where ASEAN unity will be tested to balance their own region and this is when we need those Rafales & Frigates deal to happen fast

At this point I am sure we all understand why we suddenly have the urge to spend big on military procurement. It is comforting to know our govt aware of this situation and push hard to bring us into better position/standing 💪 👍

If I may add abit, I am sure we all now understand why we try to bid for used Eurofighter, submarine/frigate stop gap and perhaps even why our Finance minister gave allocation for Submarine stop gap instead of submarine rescue vessels (like alman said). Other forum argue about maintenance, life cycle cost, commonality and so forth. But if we are in the govt shoe (specially Min Def) we may have better understanding on why those purchase plan happen in the first place. They are fully aware of commonality issue, maintenance, infrastucture, & how expensive it is to introduce new fighter assets such as Raffale, etc. Perhaps it is the price we have to pay considering current situation....

Betting on US is betting on a losing side in the future, US declines fast in all fronts
How fast???

, see what they are doing in Afghanistan now.
yes, that's good. More US assets and commitment needs to be stationed in the Pacific. Afghanistan should be left in chaos so that the so called regional powers are distracted.

Second version of fall of saigon
So ??? the fall of Saigon hardly dent US power in the world stage.

on the other hand, now that the US has finally comes to it sense that the Pacific would be the deciding arena of competition in a renewed cold war, we should expect more daring US presence in ASEAN and specifically Indonesian military, economic and political affairs.

the amount of money the US dump annually on Afghanistan now could be re-diverted towards buying friends and influence in Jakarta (and other ASEAN states too).

Indonesia is key in checking China's expansionist move in the region. we're awaiting for more constructive US-RI cooperation. The US knows that, we know that. everybody knows that.

You can do whatever you want, none of our business, but there is no Chinese expansionism, it's just some crap that the west tries to sell to the world and we all know why. China does threaten the west, for their centuries old global domination, China is bringing the end of it, The US knows that, we know that. everybody knows that.
from as far as I can remember Indonesia NEVER had the appetite to antagonize China . We're very much muted when China started ramming Phil, Vietnamese and Malaysian fishermen, fortunately incidents in 2016 and 2019 very much awakened us of the immediate danger of having an un-checked China in our backyard.

China rise is good for a balancing act against 3 decades of unchecked US/Western global domination, but geopolitics demanded that for Indonesia's security, we must have an opposing western forces in the Pacific.

These great Chinese people are causing problems anytime, anywhere. As a South Korean, I understand the difficulties that Indonesians face because of China.

What difficulties? China is both S.Korea's and Indonesia's biggest trading partner by a massive margin, contributing huge to the two countries annual GDP, is it the difficulties you are talking about?

How China militarily torments neighboring countries. China is a factory all over the world and a trouble maker all over the world.

I believe an easier to understand paraphrasing is needed
  • Require the U.S. Agency for Global Media to take certain actions to support independent journalism and combat censorship in countries where Chinese Communist Party or other entities are promoting disinformation = Battle between FAKE NEWS outlets where both sides are equally FAKE.
  • requires the Department of State to establish programs to engage partner countries on issues such as regulatory harmonization and technology partnership = Preserving Freedom
  • prohibits any individual who has served as Secretary of State or Deputy Secretary of State from representing a foreign government entity before the executive branch = Non DC swamp denizen are not welcomed
