KAI's system appeared to have been hacked twice this year by unidentified entities, and "a large quantity of documents" seems to have been leaked, according to the sources.

Some say that the breached data might include sensitive information about major defense items, such as the KF-21 indigenous fighter jet, FA-50 light combat aircraft, unmanned aircraft and radar.

"As there have been suspected hacking incidents, we requested a police probe on Monday. We will fully cooperate with investigators to reveal the facts," KAI said in a statement without further elaboration.

Rep. Ha Tae-keung of the main opposition People Power Party also said in a press release that the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), which handles national arms procurement, has admitted the occurrence of hacking attacks into KAI.

"DAPA has confirmed that KAI has indeed been hit with hacking attacks," he said, adding the agency is refusing to share other details.

Ha, a member of the parliamentary intelligence committee, also raised the possibility that blueprints of the KF-21 jet may have been stolen in the attacks. (Yonhap)

I'll choose F15 advance or Typhoon more than Su35 as interceptor
the choice is not in our hands isn't it??
after CAATSA appear into our face, all i wanted is F15EX Full package to replace our plan to have the SU35

but after TNI change their option like F35 or F15EX, more problems comes up
Not ready for 5th gen, no EPAWSS bla bla bla aka "banyak bacot"

in light of swiss choosing f-35, i wonder where is their f16 block 72 because LM says we need "bridge" to fill the gap before acquiring f-35, or was it just gimmick from LM part in order to sell their junk to us 🤔

you don't seriously think that currently our air force is capable to operate complex 5th gen platform like F-35 right?

If F-15 EX contract is signed, also pray that we sign contract for comprehensive weapon procurement contract as well. F-15 EX with dozens of sari bahari instead of BVR AAM or guided munitions will definitely looks sore in my eyes

they said F35A is cheaper???

Compared to Rafale? Yes.

My opinion, US gov't are the one that don't want to see us with F-35, not the LM. LM motivation is for-profit, they will happy to sell things.

Our country is fragile (especially in recent years), we have to admit that. No way US will let our F-35 (in case they are ok we have that) to be like Iranian F-14.
It's all about CONTEXT.

I say again, it's about CONTEXT

Operating any complex piece of machinery such as the F-35 or any other highly advance & complex machinery for that matter, require far more than just a set of wrenches, screwdrivers, pier, etc. It's called "support infrastructure". And that is something we do not have.

Lets put that F35 aside, getting F15EX with whole complete systems is our goal for now and its not as easy as getting F16Viper. Todays Eagle is aim for air superiority but still retain that "bomb truck" capability whis is usefull for our type of operation where is now shouldered by Sukhoi. The range and payload is hard to match as heavy fighter compare to other type of fighters. This payload is very important as future air to air missiles will have more range, bigger and heavier such as meteor and PL15. But for me the main important thing is this type of fighters is inline with AU plan of having at least 2 SKA of heavy fighter.

As for the Eagle improvement it self what I like the most is the 20.000 hours claim airframe which is alot and can be translate into 90 years of usage. Again altho its just a "claimed" but it is sounds good to me and perhaps the reality is not deviate too far from the claim. Another thing we often forget is their new Mission Computer ADCP II, with this new hardware processor it will make sure that this computer is fast enough to be used in todays and future software/hardware upgrade. Talking about upgrade she also has avionics open mission architecture which makes her able to receive future update, customization even hardware upgrade. Now with this kind open avionic mission architecture the possibility of replacing EPAWWS with other manufacture is wide open.

Now for the armaments it has the commonality with Viper and can be add in our indigenous way which is "nyicil" 😁 But the most important thing in Indonesia's case is not about that, its about sustainibility. We have to make sure to get the maintenance contract (one of the huge advange of getting fighters from US) via DCS is being purchased so the future cost wont be a headache to the relatively low TNI budget. All those ability and capability wont mean sh*t if this beautiful fighters become hangar queen just like its predecessor in the future 😉

in the current state? of course not. but do you really think if we buy f-35 we'll be just getting the plane and be done within a year? absolutely not! the process will take decades and it will give us enough time to prepare all the necessary infrastructure as well as training for the pilot. don't buy LM idea that we need their shitty viper to bridge us for the 5th gen aircraft lol.

This just my take on Swiss F35's deal.
Maybe, because of how small airspace they have to protect, they don't need to invest so much on its infrastructure. Example: they just need GCI radar, no need for AEW&C, Tanker, ground attack capability, and so on.

But for us, it isn't.

Swiss is special case, i don't know how other intrepet this, Swiss is NATO important partner and looking at their procurement History they would always giving priority toward NATO member products and adherent to their standard. Their FLORAKO air defense system is being built by Raytheon and Thales is speak a lot and they have special priviledge to integrated the system along with NATO surrounding member and access to other high level system. And they are already ratified many cooperation with the US.

SWISS is neutral mostly in name ....

Excerpts.

"Haripin said that at least this was Prabowo's third visit to France. The first meeting took place on January 13, 2020 and the second on October 21, 2020. According to him, the three meetings indicated that defense cooperation between Indonesia and France had stepped into a serious stage. In this way, Haripin said, it is possible that the cooperation has entered the stage of a contract for the sale and purchase of weapons equipment. "It must be seen that the G to G (inter-government) cooperation is okay," said Haripin."

which is normal if an air force want to have an entirely new plane (F35)
it's the same thing that going to happened by buying Rafale or F15
that support infrastructure issue is more suitable for Rafale rather than F35 and F15
it's not that sophisticated like F35, and yet consuming a lot of money for logistics, different type of weapons ext

now the question is, is it worth the price?
replacing an interceptor / air superiority F5 Tiger with F15 and or Rafale
while we have SU27 (which can't be purchased anymore due all of those CAATSA) to gain new capabilities that F16 isn't that good at

The dark-side of me wish that it was us :oops:😁
It is much preferable for most of the stakeholder (myself included) WHEN state actor (especially one such as 🇮🇩 ) do not have such capability. The preference is to kept offensive cyber capabilities within the private sector.

Let's see now.

F-5E Tiger II (light fighter, daylight):
Max Speed: Mach 1.63
Cruise Speed: Mach 0.8
Range: 890 km (clean).

F-15EX Eagle II:
Max Speed: Mach 2.4 - 2.5
Cruise Speed: Mach 0.85, supercruise (approximately Mach 1.1) possible with reduced external weapon load.
Range: 1272 km (full combat load, internal fuel).

Rafale:
Max Speed: Mach 1.8
Cruise Speed: Supercruise (Mach 1.4) capable with reduced external weapon load.
Range: 780 - 1650 km (combat load, internal fuel).

You lost me there when you mentioned F-5 as air superiority fighter.

So no need for network centric supporting ground infrastructure then❓ And that infrastructure also need preliminary infrastructure to operate such as availability of bandwidth and power (electricity). So far, we have neither of those. And it's extremely unlikely we will have the preliminary infrastructure within the next 10 years. And just FYI, we currently do not have the necessary infrastructure to even properly operate a major commercial data centre. And you're dreaming for operating F-35❓

And all those infrastructures going to need skilled operator & worker to deploy, run & maintain. Care to tell where we can find such human resources❓

EXACTLY, all the more reason to procure Su-35 or jump to Su-57 for regional deterrence effect (efek menggentarkan kawasan)
