Looking at Himars and M777 performance in Ukraine they are truly portraying the wise words of ada uang ada barang

Since Indonesia had limited resource especially considered logistic issue as archipelago country better to playing with quality routes to Armed the army to the teeth

The current L44 + DM53 combo wont cut for any longer if everyone around is upgrading their armor fleet
Honestly it's still cut through, depends on what situation the tank may have.

Not try to be pacifist, but is it dumb to make unnecessary conflict with other western oriented doctrine country like AUS/SG. But yeah they have cool tanks.

Buy more is a way out, but not feasible for ID Army since the budget is choking the throat. MLU is the other way ot to get tiny portion of high end stuff, if the want it. Beside, existing leo 2 in ID Army inventory still can be upgraded to Leo2 PL standard for example. Retaining L44 not neccesarily bad, beside you can get DM53 or even DM63 with greater penetration value, put RCWS, or even Throphy APS; i think it was enough to make cavalery some fang & claw.

Beside, we didn't see any major tank to tank battle since Gulf war 2. Not even Nagorno-Karabakh or Russia Invasion of Ukraine occur to be major tank to tank battle.

Since then tank is not main focus of an assault but rather to be a complementary in combined assault doctrine.

We need more modern MBT compared to our current standard of Leopard 2 A4+ version, but we don't need them in very large number like what the Poland or South Korea had after all we are archipelago country which is bound to suffer from logistic cost penalty. To have a one or two division sized heavy armor is suffice, but compared to that we bound to have a lot of infantry type units and need a lot of artillery type fire support to backing them up.

So, what's the current doctrine for tank in TNI? Combined assault like what Ukraine currently do based on West training or like Russian doctrine that tank mostly walk around without infantry covering for them?
So far just like what Presented in recent seminar.
Well, so far use the combined arms doctrine is better than use infantry or cavalry singularly. the present of smart loitering munitions is make infantry and cavalry vulnerable tho.

if only the budget is handy enough to buy 1 division of Modern MBT. LOL, I almost forget the presence of Artillery; having such big number of artillery with precise guide munitions is almost mandatory today (beside having loitering munitions). My consideration is to having punch capability at pin point accuracy while stay far away from frontline, its not necessarily mean always 155mm gun, 105mm its ok since more portable and have more ROF. that LG MK3 105 have hi ROF due to semi auto breach mechanism.

not near perfect to be called Combined Arms, and so far to be said comparable to Russian Doctrine (performance) in Ukraine.

Tank + Battle taxi, stuff that I love the most
What is the difference between Nato and Russian Doctrine?

What is the difference between Nato and Russian Doctrine?
I think I didn't have the correct answer, but let me spill some about Russian tank doctrine.
their doctrine emphasizes combined-arms warfare as well as operational warfare. It emphasizes the initiation of military hostilities at determined plan. and with their overwhelming strength of tanks and infantry they will swarming the battle ground, they will continuous to attack. Logistics is prepared early for each BTG whether they need it or not.

Alas, Rus, didn't achieve such as Tank support the Infantry, or infantry support tank and worsen by the doom of communication line and lack of Logistic.

as for NATO, I think they will use small unit to done the task.

There's news MoD signed MoU with UAE to continue developing Elang Hitam. But recently there's news UAE want to buy 120 TB2 Bayraktar 😂

people always pick the complicated way when it comes to discussing money and politics. although the Transfer of technology scheme can be executed more easily today.

that what you get when put wrong man in wrong place in charge

They should focusing on R-80 from beginning rather than MALE, because it could utilize for commercial and military, but now both are failed, what a poor planning and decision making

They should bought off the Shelf Bayraktar TB 2 since at least five years ago , before they become a hype on European battlefield
