Actually they will gain a lot more than Turkey, first 10 will be built in here, remaining 8 will be in Indonesia.
Since Pindad has got IP rights, necessary ToT, the rest of their needs (maybe dozens more) will be directly ordered from Pindad, not FNSS. (and i assume profit will be only shared when platform sold to a 3rd party)
The first 10 only needed to fill the ToT and financial gap, and after that project won't be related to Turkey.
Budget approval sometimes take really long time in Indonesia maybe Pindad should push for it a bit.
Terrible deal then. Seems like it was made out of desperation on the side of FNSS. They should learn from this lesson.

Nothing terrible here, FNSS has got one more product to offer.
And the deal was brokered in state level, so companies didn't have much to object. FNSS was awarded with STA and ZAHA projects while maybe a portion of their gain was redirected here as a joint project with a friend, and development of a new platform.

The deal is already signed with initiation of the project, FNSS completed their own part and it is not a concern for FNSS or Turkey whether it goes into serial production or not. There is a platform with joint IP rights and FNSS can keep marketing, as told above Turkey won't have any financial gain from the sales made to Indonesian Army despite of some people might be thinking such.

Lol, so we do. We are using quite ancient platforms as well. And they don't have necessity as we do to deploy in numerous wars so they are just taking it slow.

Why Turkey doesnt order the tank ? There is on going medium tank tender in US for their Army. As far as I know the contender is Lockheed Martin and BAE system. Usually in term of defense strategy, US is a head of many nations.

I believe profit will be shared in any deal since it is 50:50 joint program, but more work shared will be done based on who get the sales contract. So for Indonesia order, Pindad will have more work shared while FNSS will be more for supporting role, the same condition also apply if FNSS can sell the tank to Turkey armed force.

We have got upgraded M48 with same caliber of gun, and possibly Turkish Army doesn't like under-armoured solutions for a tank role, but prefers a MBT with heavy armor.
The chasis of Kaplan(fnss actually has a family of kaplan) is already in use by anti-tank tracked vehicle, hisar-autonom AD, korkut AD, (probably others that i don't recall).
The turret was chosen by Pindad, in requirements of the army, so the turret itself may not suit requirements of TAF.

In my opinion the profit (rather loyalty per platform) will be shared equally since IP rights are equal (in case of a sale to 3rd country). And profits will be individual in case of the local orders, so fnss will not have financial gain, possibly loyalty too when Indonesia has made purchases from Pindad, and vice versa. It makes more sense when IP rights are shared (actually owned by both parties instead of being shared).

Imo, first batch -18- is excluded from that, also this batch particularly needed for ToT so Pindad will wholely learn to build the tank, and will not rely on or request assistance of FNSS when additional tanks are ordered.
And in the future when another country orders from Indonesia, Pindad will work alone it will be better for them to develop new platforms or modify-enlarge the chasis.

If the Indonesians fail to follow through with the MMWT, it is time for the Turkish defense industry to turn their backs on them and only allow them to buy products as is without any ToT or JV at the most premium price. There are enough other potential customers that are not as frugal, demanding and indecisive when it comes to their defense acquisition as Indonesia. Let them keep fighting in their PT-76's, BTR-50's and AMX-13's.

PT 76 is Marines ones, so with BTR 50.

Heluyah, if anything as i said so before the contract already being signed the funding request had been released. But countries like Indonesia and other keep balanced their budget for Covid19 issues and delay is must be as even internasional supplier is being hampered by many issues on their own country (like Belgium) and traveling is being limited.

But sure Turkey can find other loyal supplier, i can vouch your opinion and screen shot this toward many upper Brass in Indonesia MoD, MoFa and so on in my Contact list and i wish they can chose Turkey competitor instead.

Army has shown the need to buy 100 medium tanks and it is already proposed to the government so I believe government will try to provide it for army gradually. As far as I read some where, there is already possibility for second contract.

Any way, dont expect large order during Jokowi administration but I believe government will try to ensure the production facility is not stopped.

There is also potential order from Brunei for 50 tanks since they have shown the interest for the tanks but the order will be more likely to happen once Indonesian army uses the tank.

It's NOT if. It is widely known that we have them. 4 of them if I'm not mistaken (I forgot the exact SIPRI report)

That is indeed the case for foods, agriculture produce, medicine, or half made semiconductor. But we are talking about military grade finished electronic here. heck even my own personal consumer grade electronic took serious amount of abuse in daily basis and still fully functional after over their useful lifespan
What differentiate a military grade electronic device with non-military grade is its protection: shock proof, weather proof, dust proof, and so-on.

the internal component mostly remain the same (with non military).

And your consumer grade electronic device is in operational!

And, does everything listed on SIPRI report confirm that we have purchased them?

Seeing that contract for production support service for Longbow FCR was awarded in January this year offers a strong clue that the radar is indeed in our inventory and may be currently in the process of installation and configuration specific towards the end-user? From my understanding, you don't award the contract for the production support service if you don't have the said items.
