It might sound insensitive but poor tactics and lack of equipment are starting to take a toll from our side . Banteng raider was a ranger equivalent in my book . They supposed to make a LRAP not to do an area policing . Yeah i know we got our hands tied behind our back but still...

Not to mention the long time of duty rotation . People tend to get " cozy and cocky " after a times . Between the OPM member mingling along the civilians surrounding the outpost and lacks of disciplines aside . Let just take a deep reflection moment from this tragedy .
They are in their desperate moment right now because of govt policy that are starting to tilted the opinion balance in highlands hence they starting to act more ridiculous and getting more reckless . While they do taking their toll too ( which they would never acknowledged obviously ) even 10 - 1 trade off was not worth trading in my book ( because we could do a whole lot better in this ) ...

That's all

Comparing these 2 image and instagram reply from orang dalam. It seems they already fix back-heavy problem on newer batch.

I wonder how this tank looks like with additional ERA plates and active protection system installed.

It's gonna be better if we paint that big-flat front section with darker tone, just like this.

Do we have standard alutsista (such as Anoa) in Papua? Those men surely need adequate protection

Last time i heard the V 150 were allready allocated for the local Kodam . But obviously we still need much much more modern and ruggedized APC to cover those highland dirt and stones trail. And make no mistakes it cost fortunes to ships and maintain fleet of armored vehicles in those treacherous terrains ...

I prefer to start with building infrastructure to reach such remote places, open the area and if anything such armor still need logistic and such logistic is basically a burden when you are in such area. I know the case where even newly built Anoa is in depot at one particular area of deployment for months because they don't get the necessary sparepart because the roads is inaccessible and sailing with ships according to schedule takes their time sweetly.

IMO, the army can start by strengthening those outposts/koramil located in the hot zone

Some (or probably most) of them still consist of wooden house only. Add some HESCO, MG nest, and gunfire locator to deter OPM from attacking our otpost again

You know, they too should revise their approach to handle HUMINT and gathering information and intelligent along with how to conduct communication with local people there. The soldier there is put much trust to local, that's one problem need to be addressed. There is lot of thing need to be improved. Hesco and Bastion and whatever technology you put there Will not improved the condition there as they still doing their old business as usual.

Rotation and tour of duty schedule too need to be revised, that's along on how and what basic reason to pick local people as "guide"...

That and some member seem to forget on how harsh requirement for operating an armored vehicles in mountainious terrain do . Let me ilustrate here in case some of you still ain't get it . If even anoa with his renault engines find it out of juices in some area how much wide terrain they could cover with ?? Liked or not some of the area will still need the barebones off the shelf pajeros and foots trekking patrols . And most ambushes tend to happen when the boys were off the vehicles while trying to off load their stucked mounts in the stone dirt or muddy roads

And i must add this too to complement it ... Most of the outpost were located in the valley surrounded by a high terrain . While it provide a comfort from a chilling winds it also creates an open area of opportunity . Yeah they do post some sentry in the surrounding highground but it only takes a one or two high up drugged or liqour drunked and desperate separatist to find a window of target opportunity to spray and pray down below and then hightail as fast as they could regardless the result were . And boy they are getting better on this ...

One things for sure is . hell , we definitely never lacked places and targets to hone our soldier and perfecting the tactics on but it still pains me to hear on the casualties for it .

It depends . mostly one year while at the longest i've once heard was 2 .
Isn't that too long, why not use 6 or 8 month rotation. usually if someone deploy that long they can caught off guard cuz they "sudah terbiasa"

Truthfully ?? I don't know ... But , if i can make some guesses ...
Limitation of transportation fleets ( Ships , helis and C 130 ) and funding !! Hell , even AD has to swallow some of their pride and borrow some of AU's EC 725 which was a SAR oriented as stand in for a logistic truck since most of AD's medium transport workhorse of M17 was mostly in maintenance status ( ask mado for their progress !! )
That is why we really need those CH 47's class of transport chopper ... Big payload capacity , high elevation operating ceiling and high endurance in loitering area capabilities .

Actually, this system is not Zaslon. Yes, Zaslon was bought and tested by the Turkish armed forces, but its performance was not appreciated. As you know, SAGE and ASELSAN engineers are working on the more advanced APS, AKKOR. Therefore, they realized that they could produce an APS working on the Zaslon principle. They developed Pulat (gap solution). Meanwhile, the development activities of AKKOR, which is a more advanced APS, continue.

That what you get for using economy class freight
service. Logistic service even to the harshest terrain is very viable these days, but only IF you're willing to spend the money
