The Navy C4ISR? how well developed are they in the first place?

yup, that's the issue, the Navy are allergic to turbines.La Fayette class is CODaD , with the same type of engines used by Sigma class Corvettes or light Frigates
I believe better than what the army has.The Navy C4ISR? how well developed are they in the first place?

I believe better than what the army has.
cmiiw, but replacing engines are cheaper than replacing whole armaments and combat management system. They are more concerned with available time and cost of operating such units , in the past Indonesia is indeed operating gas turbine engine for several vessels and their combat readiness is too low, as it is too complex, too expensive to be maintained and too much for second rate Navy such as Indonesia.
it depends on how the service will cooperate with each other, hope there's no inter service ego comes to place. Are you sure? The Army command units is more integrated than what you thing, they are more equipped with Air Defense system along with radar and other related stuff and they are working more closer with the Air Force and Kohanudnas compared to Navy with the Air Force.
oooooh, i didnt expect that tbh, i thought it will be a full combatant vessel, but in the end, doing some patrol mission,What you expect from patrol vessel? They are being build and designed with immediate post cold war mindset, in which the Western states is a clear Victor and there is almost no contender to upset the balance of power globally.
As there is no VLS, limited Air defense, no underwater warfare capability. But all in all, it is just suitable for Indonesia need as patrol vessel with some limited fighting capability with very very reasonable operating cost
In the late 1980s, the Marine Nationale started the studies for frigates adapted to low-intensity conflicts in the post–Cold War era. The ships were to serve in the large French exclusive economic zone (EEZ), be adapted to humanitarian operations or low-intensity operations in support of land troops, and replace the aging D'Estienne d'Orves-class avisos, which tended to prove too focused on naval operations and were ill-suited for joint operations.

anyway, for surface ship hunting , I think the Navy long range maritime patrol, onboard ships sensors and coastal radars could give a better picture than the Air force SatRad. If we could emulate the planned US Navy plan on Navy-Marines teaming, it would be great. Basically fast moving marines on LCU's hopping on islands while delivering long range precision fires.
Codog is fine, the gas turbine is not used continously and gearboxes are rather simple, also maintained annually or biannually (along with major maintenance of the hull). Wouldn't be a nuisance or even a concern to the Navy since morelikely it will be maintained by the source.the Dutch are going to retire the Karel Dorrman's soon, compared to the LaFayette's it has at least a 76mm main gun (our Navy standard main guns), Thales STIR (our Standard tracking system), VDS, hull mounted sonar, lightweight torp launcher (we could slap a pair each from our retired VS class).
but the issue is it's a CODOG.
Well, tell that to the Indonesian Navy, they're steadily getting rid of any gas turbine engined ships in the fleet.Codog is fine, the gas turbine is not used continously and gearboxes are rather simple, also maintained annually or biannually (along with major maintenance of the hull). Wouldn't be a nuisance or even a concern to the Navy since morelikely it will be maintained by the source.
But i think the decision will be made regardless of subsystems, half politically, half based on who will deliver the other batch of ships or other systems.
what is that, another UUV's? and i see chinese alphabet on that...
Test&Training&Measurement torpedo.
Not exactly certain, but I'm guessing it is one of the following ;The plating probably indicates the owner thus the purpose, anyone who can translate it?
I know that referenceNot exactly certain, but I'm guessing it is one of the following ;
- China will grow larger
- China has been generous
- Expanding the Chinese empire
- We have a big plan
Even Nahkoda-Ragam class has more firepower than this vessel. Dunno if they could be installed with more formidable as formidable class back then.and i think, if indeed La Fayyete has a green light, it still has to undergo a significant upgrade either in indonesia or in france.
some of her sensor and armament are outdated and not suitable for indonesia
such as
-100mm naval gun
- air search radar (DRBV 15C Sea Tiger Mk2 – (Group, 1996, Detector) Radar, Target Indicator, 2D Surface-to-Air & Surface-to-Surface, Max range: 133.3 km.)
-outdated combat management system
-no hull mounted sonar nor towed array sonar
-no torpedo launcher
We do indeed. Unfortunately procuring & building those ships took time. Time that we do not have considering the situation at our northern border. Which is why the "interim" solution is being pursued.Imho, we need more Air fefence capable boats
I know that reference
