That is interesting, i thought they were visiting a shipbuilding company (and yes it were), turns out SMP Ltd was one of leading manufacturer for submarine and diving system, they had very complex range of specialty on their products, and not only that, their products is integrated, from the Sub Rescue Vehicle to Decompression Chamber.

I think this would really benefit both of us, it would proof to be handy, to have an integrated rescue system. And yes im waiting this meeting would come to be great news in near future

check it yourself

They want it bigger, OPV 90 class program from PT DRU (Noahtu shipyard) actually a 98 meter class design right now. Those are already at the same level with Jose Rizal class Frigate from Philippines

They finally standardize RCWS of that caliber? No more manually manned gun 20mm? Nice
Not that standardized :

Yugoimport M71 = 20x110mm Hispano
Oerlikon KAB = 20x128mm
Denel GI-2/Oerlikon Skyranger =20x139mm
Not standard at all, this RCWS use Oerlikon KAE cannon which is 20x128mm caliber, and the list of 20mm caliber used by the navy so far is:

  • Denel GA-1 = 20×82mm
  • Yugoimport M71 = 20×110mm
  • Old WW2 Oerlikon L70 = 20×110mmRB
  • Denel GI-2 = 20×139mm
  • Rheinmetall Rh202 = 20×139mm
If the MCMV really is fitted with Searanger 20 with Oerlikon KAE, then the navy will have 5 different 20mm caliber in their inventory. Congrats! /s

3 KRI Will Strengthen Koarmada III

"We are ready to mingle, unite with all components in the working area of Koarmada III. Ready to work together and encourage everything to move in a better direction," said Pangkoarmada III.

He added that if there were 3 KRIs that would be transferred to Koarmada III. However, the arrival was gradual, 2 corvettes, namely KRI Fatahillah-361 and KRI Malahayati-362.

Does the ammo use on those 5 guns interchangeable?
Nope, only Denel GI-2 and Rheinmetall Rh202 with the same 20×139mm caliber is interchangeable, even the 20x110mm (Hispano) and 20x110mmRB has different neck and rim profile, they are not interchangeable with one and another.

Indonesia approves proposal to procure ex-South Korean corvettes

The approval was confirmed in a notice issued by the MoF to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (MoD) on 7 December. A copy of the notice was provided to Janes by a source close to the matter in late January 2023.

Janes first reported in October 2022 that the MoD had requested to procure at least one ex-RoKN Pohang-class corvette as a stopgap measure for the Indonesian Navy. The ministry had also proposed that the procurement be financed with funds from a foreign lender. This proposal was rejected by the MoF then, but no reasons were given.

Details provided in the 7 December notice indicate that this proposal was re-submitted by the MoD on 28 October, in addition to a list of other proposed procurements, such as shipborne munitions. The MoD has now cleared the MoF to take on up to USD21 million in foreign loans to fund the proposed acquisition of up to three Pohang-class corvettes.

1 hull is not a 'stop gap measure'.

Based on my earlier encounter, this is either a reverse engineering attempt that Korea is aware of, to learn about gas turbine maintenance or integration for future FACs, as a backup if negotiation and deal with Turkish shipbuilders (and alternatives) fails to proceed.

Bold: I don't think that is the case though, the navy has been dealing with gas turbine propulsion since 1977. With Rolls-Royce Olympus TM-3B on 3 Fatahillah-class corvette and 1 Ki Hajar Dewantara-class Training Frigate, also General Electric-Fiat LM2500 on 4 Mandau-class FAC.
