I'll just write the performance spec of the Trimaran FAMC from PT Lundin brochure:

Performance
Speed (max power) : 50 knots
Speed (cruising) : 28 knots
Range at 16 knots : 2000 NM
Endurance : 14 days at sea

I think whoever is the source who wrote the spec in the media got mixed-up between the cruising speed and knots range without noticing the max speed. Someone should write an article with the correct performance spec.

From Naval News article:

"According to a TNI AL statement, KRI Golok (688) has a total length (Loa) of 62.53 meters, a width of 16 meters, a ship height of 18.7 meters and a weight of 53.1 tons (ed. note: PT Lundin mentions a displacement of 245 tons). Maximum speed of 28 knots, cruising speed of 16 knots."

If i have slightest idea about this, a 50 knots going vessel will not be bound to DNV patrol boat but to high speed boat rules.

+ Is there any missile bays in the launched one, i can't see it and the rear side seems to be constructed intact with no doors left for missile exhaust. Imo they will hang around with the guns for now and use it as a patrol boat.

+ Dont worry about the speed stuff and live the moment, this is the first composite trimaran in the world, its hull definitely made for high speeds and by using waterjets it is only matter of adding additional engines or waterjets to top the speed. This is something rather experimental, proof of concept to convince the operator. Nobody expects or asks them to launch a fully capable one, neither navy would use it in actual operationd if they did.
Well according to the Navy Chief KRI Golok is only 93% completed. Better we wait for furher news on weapons or news from sea trials result.

Note that this is the Saab/Lundin Trimaran design and not the original LOMOcean design that is used to build KRI Klewang and KRI Golok.

The idea here is to build something (whatever that is) that is sellable politically. It's all about creating as many jobs as possible and PR campaign, rather than to provide the end-user with an operationally capable asset. Meaning, it doesn't matter f the boat is powered by traditional sail and made from wood, as long it can be sold to the politician and public as some kind of top of the line tech
Well yo have the point of "Indonesian procurement" there.

Never in 🇮🇩 history the user get what they want. (Hopefully one or two time get what user want)

But hey, now we're trying to fix the problem right ?

Like try to buy some big vessel from mature shipyard, and try to remove KCR 60 from board 😁

In time you guys talk about the speed the armament would be installed in Golok still in secrecy.

Oh, this boat is made somehow from carbon and plastic, so please dont make your hope for this boat to do ramming stuff. 🤣
Eh, well, I never think that the boat is strong enough to be used for ramming. And I was only writing about its armament based on what they once told. I even interviewed mr. Lundin himself back then right after the launching of Klewang.

While some of the points he said back then may have already changed now, but there should be many other points that still remain the same.
there should be an exhaust system in the back which is not present I think.

In this old Klewang photo, we can see that the boxy structures is actually above the water. I think there are at least three different ways the missile launchers can be installed there:

a. Forward firing, either inline of the ship's main hull or a bit slanted toward the outer sides,
b. Side firing, with missile exits toward the outer sides (which will compromise the ship's mid space), and
c. Side firing, with the missile exits toward the ship's centerline. This was also shown on the "KSCR 63" or "Trimaran next gen" brochure from when they still had SAAB collaboration in this project.

What seems obvious from the photographs of both KRI Klewang and KRI Golok, is that the firing ports haven't been added yet so we really can't tell in which configuration that the missiles will be installed.

Furthermore, I don't think that its full armed configuration, complete with with missiles, will be finished by October this year when they're planning to hand over the ship to the Indonesian Navy. But I would love to be proven wrong in this case.

The visual shape of the Klewang and Golok were same. The only thing that i really want to know is what material did The builder use for this one?

Wether it will be armed or not, i still hope the development of this kind of boat still continue.

I kinda agree with Mr.Alex here.

I think they need to increase the max speed to about 40+ knots, if not this is just a glorified KCR-60.

and a whole lot more sophisticated electronics compared to a KCR-60.

When Klewang was built, John Lundin said the design and engine/propulsion was based on Earthrace 2 boat. Earthrace 2 was an improved design of Earthrace 1.

Earthrace 1 max speed was 40 knots (and has been proven that speed when she attempted to break the world record by sailing around the world in 60 days). Moreover, Earthrace reach that speed by using recycled biodiesel (i.e. Cooking oil) as fuel.

if it’s true that Lundin use Earthrace 2 blueprint for Klewang/Golok, I don’t have any doubt that it can reach max speed of 40 knots.

Trimaran FACM has 3 engines (each 5300) and 3 waterjets

Golok ,just as the earlier Klewang has (or should have) 4 (each 1800) Engines 4 waterjets and should be slightly smaller than the FACM
source is pt lundin itself: Unless they have installed the double horsepower and additional waterjets, 50 knots is not possible.

Well if the building material are the same and than if armed with missle SAM / SSM it should be using "cold lounch" mechanizm right..? So if it use "Hot lounch" i am affraid it will lite.....no..?

Earthrace 2 is a cancelled project (good riddance for them).

Calling Earthrace 2 as an "improved design" of the Earthrace aka Ady Gil is a synonym of calling F-18E/F as an improved F-18C/D (which is not the case). It's an entirely a new boat & new design from a scratch. However, we can assume the boat layout is similar to that of Earthrace 2 design.

The most important question will be: “Does Lundin’s KCR design is a proven design?”

Those who are not familiar with Earthrace project will say that the design is quite “weird-looking” and “too experimental”. Hence they tend to underestimate the technical capability of this boat.

How about I change to question into, "how good does a F1 car for an offroad?". Both question has the exact premise of comparing apple-to-orange. A racing car should only use for racing on racing track, not for off-roading.

Is this is supposed to be a naval vessel, or is it a racing boat❓

I don't discount the high speed premise (during calm weather only) of a trimaran design (of which this boat also lack of). However, building a naval vessel out of plastic is a no-brainer to start with

DEFINETELY AGREE
But, hey you forgot about this one

Also This reminds me to not build a Vessel out of aluminium, never be a cost-saving solution.
But if they change the material to steel, IMHO they will also need to rework entire design.

KRI GOLOK should be a test bed for mature development to expand 🇮🇩 FAC capability.

Or left without any missile at all. Even in steel-constructed vessel, there's limitation how many hot missile can be fired untill the base (VLS, upper deck, etc..) need to be maintained.

If my braid serve me well, 🇮🇩 navy had no cold-launched AShM

I think maybe PT Lundin is still waiting for what type of missile will be chosen by the Navy so they can do the necessary works related in fitting the missile with the option either the missile is facing forward or sideways. Its still 93% not compeletly finished. Cmiiw.

if Golok is intended solely as test bed, that 28 Kts speed does not matter (be it cruising or actual max speed) but if it is intended as an operational warship as well, they need to do something if that 28 Kts is indeed the max speed

Not that interested about the hype of trimaran gun boat....

Should focused more on conventional platform especially Frigates, Corvettes and OPV

Exactly, John Lundin is Anak Bangsa Sweden. How long the test should be done until it is ready for operational? If it is proven as good as the conventional one, is there any possibility for a repeat order?

My first reactions especially about this part:

Was like:

"Just f***in' do it then!"

and,
