Apparently there is, or it is possible.

this is from a year ago. H225M just fit the bill.

The Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) has submitted a request for funding from the Indonesian Ministry of Defence (MOD) to allow them to acquire a new batch of eight (8) new naval combat helicopters.

The helicopters shall be capable of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW), which the TNI-AL has been trying to improve for the last few years.

It is highly possible though that the new request will be for a helicopter which can conduct both ASW and ASuW, which is said to be missing with the AS565MBe Panther due to its size limitations.

well, the pict above displayed fully equipped ASuW variants of H225M, with exocet and Surveilance radar onboard.

Perhaps you didnt catch what am thinking before. I mean if only the H225M(or its family) will be bought for IDNavy i hope they have by design capability for ASW(especially) by mounting some more powerfull equipment compares to AS565 Panther ASW hello currently in services.

Are those for our new frigates? 2ah140 and 6FREMM?
No idea but could be.

when the navy decide to go for a major arms modernization like that of buying a heavy frigate, they'll usually buy the complement to increase combat effectiveness. So are we seeing this order to equip the awaiting FREMM and Arrowhead ?? could be.

maybe it also explain why our Panther ASW stopped at 2 airframe while the rest is for utility. Maybe they allocated those 2 Panthers for the 2 Martadinata and now moving on to larger helicopter for newer and larger hulls ?? who knows.

============

But anyway nice to see they submit proposals for ASuW helicopters

I think in major western navies, the task of sinking other vessels usually comes to fleet air wing or submarine, while surface combatants are usually in the AAW or ASW role.

Technically, off course you can.

But what for ?? My hope is that the naval aviation are groomed to fight peer navy, not some Somali pirate.

fending off those maritime militia landing force maybe?

you may never know that those little boats can carry more than 5 squads of regular infantries to storm our beach right? and since our Army's attack helicopter are not that many, we might as well provide such capabilities to our ASuW Helos aside from the usual blowing other ships apart

Having our naval aviation the capability to fire Hellfire missile etc is good to support amphibious ops, but it should be fired from Attack helos rather than ASuW helos.

Our marines doesn't have their own air unit.

we don't need specialized attack helo for the navy, the army could hitchhike whatever platform the navy provide. unless you're a superpower there's no need for exclusive all navy wing onboard a warship.

The Australians operate their army Tiger attack chopper from their Canberra LHD, the JASDF will operate their F-35B's from the Izumo light carrier. I don't see why the navy wouldn't lend their deck space to the army if the mission objective needed them to do so.

Funding is and always remain the major issue here, the navy must choose which capability it wants with their share of the budget pie. The navy already stated they wanted ASuW capable chopper and I don't think its with some quasi light attack capability with Hellfire, and I could already understand why.

air power had been the deciding factor of naval combat since WW2, that is the first time navies fought each other from beyond the horizon and maybe the last time naval warship faces off Jutland style. It's always been the navy with larger and more adequate air power than won any sort of naval battle since then. You name it, Falklands, Gulf of Sidra, Praying Mantis etc.

The fact is that we had been neglecting the use of naval airpower as a mean to sink enemy warships and the navy realized that. The navy are trying to fix this by planning to add larger more capable helicopters with ASuW capability because frankly such is the only realistic option for the navy to expand and develop its naval airpower. Navy operating fighter jets is clearly out of option here because it will cause some very likely "konflik kepentingan" with the air force.

By focusing on ASuW (with AShM) we could maximize the potential of our navy, instead of investing in multiple platform (attack helicopters) like you mentioned. off course with budget in mind.

But again this is just my opinion.

does become Japanese Culture Fanboy has terms and conditions ?
I do wonder how defence forum nowadays isn't a strange struff anymore.
Well, it's a matter of taste. Sure, some people will frown when they find out that there's a middle-aged guy who still find excitement in watching (good) anime shows and listening to their soundtracks, but that don't bother me a bit.

I just hope that there will be no more FFBNW stuffs, or at least that the whole packages won't take years to complete like in the past.

Yes , sadly we dont have air wing with asuw capability anymore.

its ok, its ok as long as it wasnt the top speed coz i think it didnt wise to put a vehicle in its top speed for long period of time.

Ya know, engine is prone to broken.
i understand, but those 40-50knots speed in other so called fast attack craft are really welcomed in high speed interception/chase.
